Visit: Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Road, Mosman, New South Wales 2088 Australia

Taronga Zoo is one of Sydney’s top attractions and is loved by locals and tourists alike. Located on the magnificent harbor, just 12 minutes by ferry with views of iconic landmarks this is truly a zoo with a view!

Arrive at the zoo and take the Sky Safari gondola to the top entrance. Fly above the Zoo as it skims the canopy of the Asian rainforest inhabited by Taronga's orangutans and glide across the mysterious riverscape of AGL Amazonia, home to the Zoo's South American animals.

Meet your zoo keeper and start your in-depth Wild Australia Experience that will bring you close to the animals and where you will learn about the work of the zoo keepers. Learn about the unique Australian animals and how they are cared for at the zoo, go behind the scenes into restricted access areas, see how the food is prepared in the 'animal kitchen,' and explore the world of the wallabies and kangaroos.

You will get to enter the Australian bushland and the underground world of the endangered Southern hairy-nosed wombat, discover the mysteries of the platypus, and explore the nocturnal house for a close encounter with the normally shy and elusive wildlife which only venture out at night.

At the end of your tour you'll be served a light snack at Harbourview Cafe and receive a souvenir gift.

Admission to Taronga Zoo is included so you are free to spend the day exploring the many exhibits and shows before and after your tour. Join the regularly scheduled keeper talks to learn more about Taronga Zoo's wide variety of animals.

This was our favorite activity in Sydney for our family of 4 including 2 teens, 12 and 14 who are difficult to please. Love the in depth information from an experienced tour guide. Had the opportunity to get hands on experience with several native Australian animals. Highly recommend as it is worth the extra fees.

Perfect small group tour up close with koalas and the whole range of other indigenous species. Rob the keeper was an excellent informative host. Highly recommended.

This behind the scenes tour was amazing. It focused on Aussie animals. I was the only one on the tour so I was able to spend considerable time with the koalas and kangaroos, as well as in the nocturnal area.

Can't hold or touch the Koalas, but we were basically face to face. Stroked an echidna! Excellent guide showing most Aussie animals where general public can't go. We finished up donating and adopting a Koala. Definately do this tour.

Behind the scenes tour was wonderful. Saw the Koalas up close. Unfortunately we only got to experience about an hour of it as our tour started at 2pm and we had to be back on the ship by 4pm. If you are on a ship , make sure you take the 1030am tour. We actually got to experience the zoo before the tour which was wonderful. Great Zoo for kids, a lot of kid friendly things to do. The ferry from the port to the zoo is easy to find. I think it was 15.00 Round Trip per person usd. I would highly recommend this tour.

We had the best experience with guide Robert. He was knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating. The zoo is one of the best I’ve been in and the animals were so well taken care of. This is a must for any visitor to the Sydney area!!

The entry to the zoo was an unpleasant experience as 3 different people gave us 3 different directions to go in which was very frustrating. Once the tour started it was fabulous. Very interesting and enlightening. I would highly recommend the behind the scenes tour.

We got to the zoo and they seemed to be concerned what to do with us. There was confusion with our reservation thru Viator and the group was already full. They offered to send us with volunteers on a different behind the scenes tour and we accepted. The volunteers were great and we did enjoy the tour but it was not what we had originally booked. I am not sure if this was a Viator or zoo issue but the zoo did try to make amends.

The description in the tour was misleading. With that being said our tour guide Sam was very knowledgeable. We spent a few hours in one little section of the zoo. We did not get to interact with the animals as much as anticipated. The extra price was not worth the money .
