Denver, or if we want to get completely formal, the City and County of Denver, is the not only the capital of Colorado, but the state's largest city. The population of Denver is just a smidge under 650,000, and is spot on 400 square kilometres in area. Denver is nicknamed as the Mile High City. No, get your mind out of the gutter, not the Mile High Club. This is due to its official elevation which is exactly a mile or 1,609.344 meters above sea level. Not only is it one of the highest major cities in the States, but home to the Denver International Airport.
Denver has many nationally distinguished museums, which includes a new wing for the Denver Art Museum. The Denver Art Museum is situated in the Civic Center of Denver. It is globally renowned for its collection of American Indian art. Denver is also the second largest Performing Arts Center in the nation. The neighbourhood LoDo is filled with several art galleries, restaurants, bars and clubs. LoDo is the lower downtown area of Denver, and it is the oldest and original settlement in Denver.
