Laptops and large devices banned on UK and US flights.

There is now a US ban on all electronic devices larger than a mobile phone covering flights from around 10 different airports, a UK ban has also been put into place with the possibility of the Canadian Government following suit.

The UK Government has stated it will affect 14 carriers with direct inbound flights from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. Larger electronic devices will have too now be checked through baggage.

When does, this take effect?

The deadline is 07:00 GMT on Saturday the 25th of March 2017 with no official end date.

Which flights are going to be affected?

Among the UK airlines affected are British Airways, Monarch and EasyJet. The 9 US airlines are Royal Jordanian, EgyptAir, Turkish Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad Airways.

There are 10 airports affected which is subject to change if you are flying to the US:

The UK has offered a more informative example which includes nothing larger than 16cm (6.3ins) long, 9.3cm (3.6ins) wide or 1.5cm (0.6ins) deep will be allowed. This means you will still be able to bring the larger size iPhone Plus on the plane. Essential medical devices will be allowed once a security check has been complete.
