Enjoy a whale watching tour from the small fishing village of the west side of Eyjafjordur. Depart at your chosen time from the meeting point in this picturesque town and you will be taken into the midst of the whale populations and rich sea life characteristics of the area. Whether the whales have ventured deep into the fjord or are staying closer to Hrisey, they are always just a short trip away from Hauganes. Most common species include humpback whales, minke whales, harbour porpoises, white beaked dolphins and with a little luck blue whales and orcas (killer whales).
Your captain, a professional fisherman during the winter, will keep you in good hands during the summer whale watching season.

Júlía has made the trip very interesting, telling us a lot of facts about whales and how they live. She and the two other team members were also very kind to answer any questions I had sharing their knowledge.
We have been lucky to find two whales outside Akureyri but that's not something you can predict.
I recommend this experience with them

Amazing experience on an ancient wooden boat.
We had a beautiful weather and a wonderful experience.
Above all Julia our guide was so cool. she ptovided loads of very interesting information about the whales.
The trip was so quiet. Julia was speaking with such a soft and peaceful voice . All was done to be respectful with the animals and that was so emotional.
We highly recommend this tour.

Took the Whale watching tour in mid April. Once out in the fjord we were able to see two different humpback whales over many dives, The crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time and would recommend this to anyone.

We had a great whale watching trip. Whales were very close to the boat and we always knew where to look because the shipper warned us all the time. We sail in a beatiful scenery in Eyjafjörður and we had the chance to see more whales and a seal. We loved every minute.

We saw 5 whales feeding. It was amazing!!! The views alone were incredible. The crew was great and very knowledgeable

Highly highly recommend. The captain and crew were professionals and knew where the whales are. Very nice people. We saw many humpbacks and minke whales and took many photos and videos especially when the whales were diving with their tails up! One of the highlights of our trip in Iceland. They have a clean facility and they provide additional warm coveralls that you can put over your coats. Very comfortable and we did not feel cold at all.
They even gave us snacks of coffee, hot chocolate and delicious homemade cookies! Very thoughtful.

We saw more than a dozen humpback whales, including two right next to the boat. Hauganes is the perfect spot for whale watching along the Eyjafjörður, and the boat's crew was friendly, informative, and professional in every way. Each of the whales had a different fluke pattern, and it was fun to see them taking a few breaths on the surface and then arching their back for a dive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Staff was super friendly. We arrived 30 minutes early. You will be wearing coveralls that they provide. Wasn’t the coldest day when we went so leaving my thick coat in the car was ok. Bring some well insulated gloves. My hands were the only thing that was cold. WE SAW WHALES. A pod of four and three individuals. We stayed long enough to see them dive 3 times. If you are inclined to have motion sickness, take Dramamine. Water is choppy at best and there were some pretty nice swells. Even at that, the captain navigated us close to the pod. Unbelievable to be so close to such majestic creatures. Two thumbs up from us!

Had a wonderful time. Staff provided us with cozy insulated jumpsuits for a relaxing trip down the fjord for a morning cruise with the whales.

Simple amazing, this a total experience you hace to live, the trip takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, the team really makes a great effort/work on following the whales so you can get a great view, they also provide an amazing suit which is very confortable, you will not suffer through the wind or cold. In addition, People are so kind and helful during the whole experience. Thank you Whales Hauganed and Troll Expeditions for this awesome experience :D
