The 2day 1 night trip was nice, the guide, driver, chef in the jungle, all of them are kind. We saw various primates and of course the orangutan. The night camp is not far from the river, you could take a swim as shower of the day. Also the camp dinner and fruits are great! The second day of this plan is basically no trek, just staying near the camp but you could discuss with your guide if you want to explore more, we take a raft back to the town along the river, it was amazing. This trip worth it if you love nature.

We spent 2 days and one night in the jungle with our guide Nang Nang. We couldn't have imagined a better guide. Nang Nang was the perfect guide, he treated the orangutans ethically. He didn't lure or feed them, just quietly watched them from a distance, always looking for the perfect view for us. He was funny and attentive, we always felt like we were in good hands with him. On our trekking tour we saw orangutans 4 times and many other species of monkeys. You could tell that Nang Nang loves his job, he was always happy with us when we saw monkeys. No further trekking tour was planned for the second day, but Nang Nang adapted the program specifically for us and went trekking with us again at our request. That was an absolute highlight! We were lucky enough to see a couple of orangutans building a nest away from all the people. The trip was a success and we couldn't have imagined it any better. We are very grateful to have had Nang Nang as our guide. In contrast to Nang Nang, we didn't feel comfortable with his boss Dieki at all. He offered us his transfer on the way there and back. Both times the price was high and he gradually lowered it when we said we don’t want his transfer. As we didn't have enough time on site to look for another transfer, we finally agreed to book the return journey through his organization. The only sad thing is that Dieki said he’d give us a lower price via WhatsApp and then refused to give it to us at the end. Especially with a tour organization in which you place a lot of trust, we expect that customer satisfaction comes first and that a fair and reasonable price is quoted from the outset. Anyway our driver Mershy was great. He gave us a fun ride and got us safely to our destination. Dieki also pushed us very hard to give a review. Although we said we were sick and would write the review as soon as we were well again, he didn't let up. He told us that he wanted a 5 star rating from us because only then would our guide Nang Nang get a "gift" from the management. We would definitely have given 5 stars based on our good experience with Nang Nang, but we deduct one star due to Dieki's manner and pressure. To summarize, we can say that the bukitlawang-tour team is awesome and especially Nang Nang deserves 5 stars (we really hope that he receives the gift despite the 4 stars and does not have to pay for the mistakes of his boss). The boss Dieki, on the other hand, seems questionable in his treatment of customers and staff.

This jungle tour is a must in Sumatra. It is the kind of things that you cannot forget, the kind of things that you could tell your grandchildren when get old. Everything was on point from the first step out of the airport. They provided us a driver from the airport to Bukit Lawang ( additional cost) and another one to continue our trip to another destination ( also additional). I have to say that both driver were amazing, very polite and nice. We were picked up at our hotel in Bukit Lawang and from there we headed to the jungle. We started the jungle tour around nine in the morning. Nanang and his assistant were two amazing guides who took care of us during the hole tour. They were both really friendly and made sure that we have regularly a brake since the trek is a real workout. Special mention for Nanang and his explanations about the nature and the animals around us, it was really interesting. After only few minutes in the jungle, we saw the first animals : Thomas monkeys, really cool animals who probably have a better haircut than you do. Our guides were dedicated to find Orangutans and thanks to their knowledge of the surroundings and their efforts, we found them. During the whole trip, we were lucky to see nine of them, including two babies and one big male, which is very rare ! It was an amazing feeling to see them in their habitat and to be so close from them. I remember having goosebumps when hearing the big male waking up from his nap. This was one of the moment that I will never forget. Moreover, the food that was offered during the tour was great. The fruits, the lunch, the dinner, the breakfast, everything was made with love and attention. The campground was rudimentary but there was everything we needed and the location was great, right next to a river, perfect for a refreshing dive. The tour ended perfectly as we headed back to our hotel via the jungle taxi : sort of rafting on the river from the camp to the starting point of our tour. Really fun ! Overall it was an amazing experience that I recommend to everyone who likes nature and trekking. Just be aware that the trek is not for everyone as it could be pretty difficult at some points and the heat makes it even harder. It requires to have a good endurance, tropical spray, proper clothes, a lot of water and good knees! If you have all of these just go for it ! You won't regret. Thanks to the team for everything and thanks for the great memories that we made in the jungle. PS: We were also able to see the Sipiso Piso thanks to them. It was not included in the tour but they provided a driver which made it possible (additional cost). They were really flexible about what we wanted to do and everything we wanted was made possible. As Nanang said " Everything is possible in the Jungle brother".

Very good jungle trip with nanang, our guide, it was a great experience, different from what you're used to it. The trekking was not too difficult but maybe not for everybody. The food was amazing and we never finished it. They were always caring about us and making us feeling like home, even though the jungle is way different. Don't expect the tents and the camp to be perfect, although they were comfortable. Then we finished our trip with rafting and it was really funny. Totally recommend.

This tour will be a highlight of your Indonesia trip! Really an unforgettable experience, my guide was NangNang and he did everything possible to make my time enjoyable and comfortable. We saw 10 Orangutans throughout the day and many Long-tail Maca monkeys. The sounds of the jungle were really beautiful, such a great natural experience. Highly recommend!

This tour was one of our standout experiences in Indonesia. We trekked through the jungle and saw lots of orangutans, including mothers with their babies, as well as gibbons, a monitor lizard, countless monkeys and even a turtle. Our guides Nang Nang and Inyo were such energetic, informative, light hearted people, full of stories and songs about the animals and the jungle. They took really good care of us, guided us through the incredible, and at times difficult terrain safely, while entertaining us and making us laugh even as we sweat. The best part was that it felt like a slice of what it must have been like to grow up near the jungle instead of a sterile, curated tourist experience. This is largely due to the guides, who have a lot of love for the jungle and its animals. Bring bug spray, some good shoes, water and something you can roll up into a pillow and you’ll have an amazing time with these people.

I was picked up at Kualanamu airport and dropped off at my hotel before commencing the trek by a lovely member of the tour company. This really made the start of my journey so easy and relaxing. The trek was more difficult than I anticipated, you really need to have good walking footwear as some of the path is uneven, steep and sometimes slippy. We were lucky to see a mum and baby orangutan at the beginning of our journey but unfortunately did not see any more for the rest of our trip. We did see many monkeys, Komodo dragons and lots and lots of mosquitoes! (Bring mosquito repellent!!!) The tour guides were fantastic! They really made the experience for me. Full of laughs, good chat and local knowledge. I would recommend that you bring earplugs as I didn’t sleep due to the ‘jungle music’ of around 20 monkeys and, while the sleeping mat was comfortable, the pillow was non existant. River tubing back to Bukit Lawang was an excellent way to end our experience as all three of our tour guides made sure to get us as soaking wet as possible before saying goodbye. I was driven back to the airport by another lovely worker who made the three hour drive back to Medan fly by as he told me about his life, history and politics in Indonesia which I found to be so interesting. He was brilliant! While the trip itself was amazing, there are a few things that could have made the experience a 5 star tour. A packing list could have been provided in advance to ensure that I had everything I needed because I wasn’t told until I had arrived what I would need. There was too much food for me personally and I felt guilty that a lot of the food was wasted. Lastly, the bedroom arrangements were not the most comfortable as we did not have areas of privacy to change clothes easily after swimming in the river.

Saw numerous Orangutan females, many with babies. My guide Jungle Nang Nang led a safe, informative and fun overnight trek in the jungle, capped off with a raft ride down the river back to town. I highly recommend this trek & Jungle Nang Nang as a guide!
