Itinerary

Day 1: Mermaid and San Pedro

Stop At: Corcovado National Park, Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula, Province of Puntarenas
The tour starts at 6:00 am at the main beach of Drake Bay. We take the boat to the Sirena Station, this journey lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, with luck, on the boat ride we will have the opportunity to see marine animals.
We disembark on the beach in the Sirena sector, where we will put on our shoes to start the first walk.
On this route the trails are short, well defined, and flat. The objective of this part of the tour is to interact with the group and try to see as many animals as possible, since, in the Sirena sector, the animals are more accustomed to humans, and there are few top predators. The most common animals to see are smaller mammals such as monkeys, coatis, agoutis, etc.
This walk ends at noon, when we take the boat to the San Pedrillo Sector.
The journey between Sirena and San Pedrillo by boat lasts about 45 minutes, we disembark in the wildest sector of Corcovado.
Duration: 6 hours

Stop At: Corcovado National Park, Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula, Province of Puntarenas
THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!
In this tour the trails are irregular, wilder and in a more natural environment, we start walking to the San Pedrillo Waterfall where we will have lunch and cool off in freshwater pools.
The objective of this part of the tour is to get to know one of the only primary rain forests in the world, with ancient trees, land of top predators. Here the animals are more elusive and maintain their natural behavior, which makes it more difficult to see them, but you can get a great surprise like seeing a tayra hunting a sloth.
The reason why we love this part of the tour is because of the interaction between prey and predators, even if it is just hearing or feeling them, it is magical, we will be on trails without people. In this part the pace of the walk is faster, mainly to be able to surprise the animals and to be able to arrive at the station before nightfall, have dinner and rest. They walk about 20 km.
Duration: 5 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: We will sleep in a hostel in the middle of the jungle, on the edge of Corcovado

Day 2: The plans and return to Drake

Stop At: Corcovado National Park, Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula, Province of Puntarenas
This day we begin to recharge with a good breakfast, and then at 7:30 the trek back to Drake begins. We will enter a very thick jungle, where you will think that you are lost in the middle of nowhere. As always, we are characterized by non-traditional trails, where you will not see people feeling like you are in a real jungle.
This walk is approximately 10 km, until we reach the Los Planes sector where we will have lunch and a 4x4 will pick us up to take us back to the hotel or downtown Drake.
The tour ends at noon.
Duration: 6 hours

Our trip with Top Trails was the highlight of our trip. Aldo was our guide and he was great. Spotted lots of animals and shared his passion for the primary jungle. The hike was perfect, enough to get your heart rate up but still be able to enjoy the views and setting of the jungle. The lodge was beautiful and hiking to a water fall that we could stand in was the perfect way to end the trip! We were all so glad we add this tour to our itinerary.

Charlie (Carlos) is out this world. The way he loves his job and explain the whole trip in advance and what to expectand what don't is super valuable. Took the trip with 7 friends and it was fun but heavy. If you read this make sure you are aware that perhaps you will sweat like nothing else in the world, you will drink tons of water and perhaps will walk ups and downs. Make sure you are physical and mentally prepare for this adventour

We had an amazing time which was true experience of Corcovado forest, this was the highlight of our spring break trip to CR. I did some research and reached out to Top Trails prior to booking this trip and Kim was very helpful in suggesting this particular tour, reason I signed up as Top Trail had great customer service. Not knowing what to expect this was an out of world experience where we never saw any other tourist around you and this was a pure private tour for us guided by Carlos. Carlos was amazing, he pretty much lives and breathes this jungle, he can hear and spot animals is truly an expert. Stay overnight was a great place, if you're looking for an eco-lodge experience surrounded by all the wildlife around you this was a bonus, we heard so many sounds of birds and various animals was just out of this world. Overall I would highly recommend this tour.

I had a fantastic 2 day/1 night trip with Top Trails Corcovado in March. They have been of great help from the time of booking all the way to the tour itself. I had booked months in advance and had loads of questions down the road, which were patiently and accurately answered with no delay, and the added convenience using WhatsApp for communication. They asked me to visit their office in Drake Bay the day prior to the tour for a briefing, which I think is a very professional way to ensure everybody is well prepared. The tour itself was mind-blowing. Our guide Aldo has been exceptional compared to any other guided tours I have ever joined. His wildlife spotting abilities are incredible, we saw tapirs, a tamandua, pretty much every monkey present in this part of Costa Rica, countless birds from toucans to hokkos to a red-capped manakin, loads of insects and so much more. His knowledge about wildlife, the plants and the area itself is impressive. He was able to answer any questions we had on the spot, regardless of how specific our questions were. On top, he added loads of extra details that gave us profound insight. The most valuable traits that set Aldo apart from most guides are his enthusiasm and genuine passion for nature and its inhabitants, and his ability to share this passion with other people. He is truly interested in the wellbeing of the group he is leading, and a pleasant personality to simply have a nice chat with. Our itinerary on day 1 started with a 40min boat trip from Drake Bay to the Sirena sector. We were lucky the sea was relatively calm that day, we were told the landing is a bit bumpier most days. Our first hike was within the Sirena sector, mostly a secondary forest were we had most of our animal encounters. Lunch at Sirena Station was fantastic and the portion generous. After lunch, we headed to San Pedrillo sector by boat and hiked another couple of km through primary forest. There were less animals, but this part of the National Park felt wild and untouched compared to La Sirena. Real jungle feeling guaranteed :) We spent the night in a small lodge on a hillside clearing between San Pedrillo and Los Planes, with a warm welcome by the hosts Capi and Andrea, a supple dinner and a cold beer. We had a fantastic time there with amazing food and nice conversations. At night, there was no sound of human activity. Only the sounds of the jungle that have been around there for thousands of years. The next day we continued our hike to Los Planes, were we had lunch before our taxi collected us and brought us back to Drake Bay. All in all, this has been one of the best guided tours I ever joined (perhaps the best). Luckily, we were only a group of 3! The heat and humidity are brutal even in the forest, but you don't visit Costa Rica for skiing holidays ;) The only thing that flawed my experience a bit was the cost of their post cards and souvenirs: I stopped by their office the other day to buy some of their postcards, only to learn they were 14 USD a piece! I felt that was quite a rip off, especially considering that I had done 2 different tours with them within a week. This won't affect my 5/5 rating for this operator as it is a very small detail (and no one is obliged to buy a post card for 14 USD), but it did take the cherry off the whole experience a bit. I can clearly recommend this operator for their reliability, transparent communication and their highly professional style of doing business. Every single touchpoint I had with Top Tours Corcovado has left me reassured to have picked the right operator. Be it their communication through WhatsApp prior to my trip, the friendly and professional encounters with their staff in the office, or the memorable tour itself with our guide Aldo, I would stick with Top Trails Corcovado again.

Had an amazing two days and one night Corcovado Tour! Our guide Andre was fantastic! He was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He kept us and the wildlife safe. The nature is just incredible. We saw also lots of animals. The lodge we stayed at was very nice and the food was delicious on both days! Top Trails stored our luggage while we were on the tour and helped us with the boat reservation back to Sierpe. Would highly recommend this trip!

We have made a two day trip on the 18th and 19th of Januari with Andrey. It was a challenging but rewarding hike and fun to do within a group. We did see a lot of animals for example, humpback wale , tapirs , all the four monkeys of Cista Rica and a lot of birds. Andrey was very knowledgeable and explained a lot about the animals, forest and the use of the different plants and trees in the forest. We would definitely recommend doing a trip with top trails Corcovado!

We (group of 4) had an amazing experience with Eric our tour guide. He knows everything about the jungle and the animals. Every tour guide has a telescope with them to spot the animals and you can make pictures through it. The night in the station is really worth it because if you start early you may see active animals of the night that usually sleep during the day. Eric showed us tapirs, ant eaters, crocodiles and lots of birds. Without him I would not have spotted any of those. We even saw a tapir walking by and eating just half a meter next to us. Big thanks to Eric!

The most memorable is the diversity of the nature, the explanation about several plants, the challenging hiking in some parts and the tasty food at the stations. That kind of tours is the best activity type you can do to make the most of your Drake Bay stay.

Our guide, Andre, was a really wonderful and was full of so much information. I went with my 70 year old mom and he was really attentive to her needs. The trip was much more strenuous than I had originally thought. in the afternoon of the second day we walked 5 miles up and down super steep muddy hills. it was cool, but way more strenuous than I thought and I also wasn't really counting on rain...my bad, so the trek was muddy and slippery. Probably not the best idea for my mom, but we made it work. Spending the night in the cabins was a dream, a really wonderful experience - so relaxing to be in the middle of the jungle. the trek the second day was a bit much just because it was raining. I recommend doing this but not during rainy season!

Uncredible nature spatting adventure. We did a tour with 4 adults and 6 children with our superguide Edin Pavon, since 18 years guide at Corcovado. Sleeping at Sirena Ranger Station was adventure with the boa under the stairs and the snoring dutchman. Edin told us, warned us, learned us about nature, animals and their dangers. Highlight was to see a crocodile catching and eating a large animal. Thank you, Edin, for taking care of us!!
