Day 1: Hanoi - Quang Uyen
Stop At: Museum of Cultures of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups, No 1 Doi Can, Thai Nguyen 23000 Vietnam
Leave Hanoi for Quang Uyen at 8 AM on a 6-hour drive. Stop in Thai Nguyen city to visit Museum of Ethnic Minorities in Viet Nam.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Bưu điện huyện Quảng Hòa, MCQR+7P, Chí Thảo, Quảng Hòa District, Cao Bang, Vietnam
After lunch in Bac Kan city, go through six mountainous passes to reach homestay at an incense making village of Quang Uyen district, Cao Bang province. Rest of the day can be spent to discover life of Nung people here and the way they make incense to survive. If you are hungry for more amazing landscape, it is recommended you have 1-hour hike up the mountain behind the village to get the whole exotic view and enjoy a sunset break at the peak.

Day 2: Quang Uyen – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Ba Be Lake
Stop At: Ban Gioc Waterfall - Detian Falls, Tl211, Dam Thuy Trung Khanh, Cao Bang 22000 Vietnam
Take a morning exercise and enjoy the fresh air before your served local breakfast. Hit the road again to captivating Ban Gioc waterfall, the fourth biggest border waterfall in the world between Vietnam and China. Stop en route for a short walk around Phuoc Sen village, a Nung village where they make knives as traditional handicraft.

Stop At: Nguom Ngao Cave, Gun Village, Dam Thuy Commune, Trung Khanh District, Cao Bang 270000 Vietnam
Pay a visit to amazing Nguom Ngao limestone cave, also known as Tiger cave before return Ba Be lake. Enjoy the peacefull sunset by the lake. If time permits, have a swim in cooling fresh water of the lake.

Day 3: Ba Be Lake Half Day Boating – Hanoi
Stop At: Ba Be National Park, Bo Lu Village Ba Be district, Nam Mau 270000 Vietnam
Enjoy last breakfast in this rural paradise before 3-hour boating around the lake. Short walk to see Cam village with nature, local people and school at the end of the lake. Follow Nang river to Puong cave, a tunnel cave full of amazement from limestone stalactites and stalagmites to mysterious bats. Continue to Buoc Lom wharf where you say goodbye to Ba Be and return Hanoi.

This excursion was unforgettable! Mr. Giang, our guide, was great, he was well-versed in the indigenous way of life. When my husband felt ill during the trip, Mr. Giang was very gracious to look after us and was flexible and helpful in re-arrangin the routes so that we could come back to the homestays early while still seeing as much as possible. Mr. Duc was a fantastic driver. He was fantastic with us, constanly stopping to see sights and view, and we always felt safe.

We were lucky to have Mr. Lee as our guide for out 7-day loop trip to Ha Giang, Ban Gioc Falls, Cao Bang and Ba Be Lake. He was incredible, the best guide ever: kind, patient, humorous, and well informative. He provided us with the opportuinity to meet individuals from several ethnic villages and learn more about their culture.
We also thank our driver - Mr. Duc who did a great help to safety transfer us to Hanoi to these isolated locations, along the Chinese border, and to enjoy numberous wild and stunning views.
furthermore, the homestays and hotels were all best chosen. We really appriciated !

We had a great time with our guide Linh form Bamboo Advantures Vietnam on our excurision to Ba Be Lake and Ban Gioc Waterfall. The scenery was beautiful, and the Linh was clearly passionate about his country. The excursion is a long drive from Hanoi, making it less commerical compared to Sapa, Halong Bay. Because it is not overrun with tourists, the neighborhood retains its uniqueness.
We had planned to do three-day trip, but Jack from the office advised me to extend it to four days in order to fully visit the regions. And he gave us sound advice. Thank you very much!

The trip to Ba Be lake and Ban Gioc falls was one of our best time during our trip to Vietnam. The regions are truly unexplored and less-touristy. We had a lifetime opportunity to enjoy the nature and stay with local ethnic Tay and Nung minorities. Everything was perfectly organized. Our guide Minh was the best who took great care of us and showed us everything about the places with stories that we may never know if we didn't do the trip.
In my opinion, if anyone would like to do this trip, you should expand to 4 days to enjoy more and cut short the driving because it is such a long way, and a little in rush for 3 days. However, overall, the trip is worth doing when you travel to Vietnam but are in short of time.

Very fun trip to Ban Gioc waterfall with Son from Bamboo Adventures Vietnam. Son was very caring, speak excellent English and he knew everybody in the local areas we visited, which help us to connect with them.
We love so much the local lives and the breath-taking landscape in Ban Goc waterfall area, as well as the rural peacefulness in Ba Be Lake.
Highly recommended this trip and Son as tour guide

Such a very amazing and significant trip to explore the hidden beauty in Vietnam and explore the local lives of the ethnic minorities. Ban Gioc Falls and ba be lake are the 2 highlights you shouldn’t miss when traveling to Vietnam

Just came back from a 3-day trip to Ba Be lake and Ban Gioc Waterfall. Our guide Jack really helped us to see authentic Vietnam with pure nature and local minorities that we think less-known to others. Services, food, homestays were all excellent. Thank our skillful driver Loi as well for helping us being safe during the trip on winding mountainous roads :)))). We would come back and try Ha Giang next time!
