I booked, paid and received confirmation from Viator 10 days before the date of the trip. I waited to be picked up on the day and when I wasn’t I called the tour operator. They said I wasn’t going because there is a 2 person minimum and I only booked for me. At no stage did Viator or the operator contact me to tell me it wasn’t going ahead. By then it was too late to book another tour or activity. Absolutely terrible service. Disappointed not to go and disappointed after having a great time otherwise in Costa Rica.

What a tremendous 3-day trip, thanks to Giovani for his skill on the river. My wife started very nervous about our rafting, but within an hour, we were all enjoying the trip. Thanks to Alex and Diago for making our stay at Ave Sol River Sanctuary so much fun (can all 3 of them cook!!!!). The walk up to the waterfall was a great adventure, complete with a thunderstorm, screaming monkeys and trees falling in our path. Thanks again to all for a great adventure and trip.

An experience which I really could recommend!! From the guides (Michele) to the Lodge Owner (Alvaro) and his wife were all so friendly and try their best that you have an unforgettable visit in their lodge. You feel like a part of their family. The lodge is just beautiful with very clean houses/rooms and a majestic view to the rainforest. The trip on the River Pacuare is as well as just impressive, pure nature and not less adrenaline.

I can't say enough good things about this adventure. From beginning to end the team from Tropical Rivers took great care of us (family of 2 parents and 2 adult sons) and gave us an experience we will never forget. Rafting on the Pacuare River was a blast - the scenery was gorgeous, the rapids were exciting, the Rios Lodge where we spent two nights was an oasis in the jungle with gorgeous flowers, stunning views, comfortable rooms, and the most amazing waterfall pools to swim in. But what made this trip truly exceptional was our guide Raul. He is an expert paddler and knows the river by heart - we always felt completely safe. Having the other rafts and the kayakers nearby reinforced my peace of mind - they all worked as a team on the river and it was clear these were seasoned professionals. Raul had non-stop energy, was a super fun person to be around and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the animals, insects, birds and plantlife. He took us out on three separate long hikes, (including one at night!) and was able to name and give fun facts about everything around us, wildly exceeding our expectations. Raul and his helper Alonzo (who expertly handled the supply raft and made sure the food and all our belongings didn't end up in the river) were also talented chefs, preparing and serving the fresh, delicious buffet-style meals in the Rios Lodge's open air kitchen overlooking the river. They even made intricate garnishes out of vegetables and, since I'm not a coffee drinker, Raul concocted amazing hot chocolate for me each morning. Although we moved on to other beautiful areas of Costa Rica over the following 8 days, our conversations kept turning back to Raul and our adventures on the Pacuare River.

There was mix-up on the lodge we were supposed to stay in. We were put up in a property was not the one we paid for but the company made it right by giving us a credit - which was very honorable by them. If we had originally booked the lesser quality location we would have been fine because it was fun and unique. So with the credit it all came out great! The accommodations we ended up with I would call primitive glamping, no hot water, pretty open to everything but we enjoyed ourselves. Our river guide, Michele, was outstanding. He also took us on a hike to the indigenous village above the lodge we stayed, they have been living close the same way for almost 400 years. Great experience. The beauty going down the river was breathtaking!!!! I would highly recommend this Pacuare river adventure!

From start to finish, this was the best part of entire visit to Costa Rica (and we did some great things)! Christopher was an amazing guide. He was fun, professional, spoke good English, and is an tremendous cook (he prepared all of our delicious meals!). We always felt safe and well-taken care of. He was very polite and considerate and kept everyone on time. Staying at the eco lodge for 2 nights is totally worth it. It gives you time to relax, hike, swim at the waterfall pools, and just chill out in a hammock. Gorgeous spot!

Wow, where to start. Such a beautiful experience and I especially want to thank Gustavo for making this an unforgettable journey. Not only did he constantly make sure I was comfortable as a solo traveler, but we had some very good and intriguing conversations that made this much more than "just" a wild water tour. He was not just a great guide, but also a good friend. However, Christopher, Raoul, Giovanni and even crazy Diego were all such great guys and I had a blast being with them. Coming to Costa Rica I had to change my plans at the last minute. I booked this tour just two days in advance, and I was initially quite nervous if I'd be able to go at all: at that time, this tour had no reviews on this site. However, the guys at the tour were very responsive and helpful, even picking me up at a hostel which wasn't listed for pick-up. The drive to the location and back was perfect: nice air-conditioning and even USB ports. There arrived precisely when they said they would, and along the road a lot of funs facts were told to us. However, the reason you are reading this review is of course because you want to know how the rafting experience was. Let me tell you by saying that I won't forget this adventure for a long time. You can go river rafting with a lot of companies, who have a lot of different employees, but you won't find any company with such great guys like here. Even though they put safety first, they know where the hot spots in the river are and make this an awesome adventure. They guide you and make sure everyone is having a great time and is a part of the journey, whether you be young or old or athletic or lazy. The guides explain different facts about the jungle during your stay and you occassionally stop for some beautiful hiking moments. There are even moments you can jump in the water and float alongside the boat in an epic canyon. They do everything they can to make sure you enjoy your stay. Further more, the lodge where you stay is simply just beautiful. No wifi or cellphone connection, which means peace and rest for body and mind. Cherry on top: the food they serve is simply delicious. Get ready for some typical Costa Rican dishes with nice surprises. The three day tour was definitely worth it, although some might rather choose the two day. The difference is that with the three day tour, you stay an extra day to relax at the lodge and explore the surrounding jungle with a guide. Although I went alone, plenty of families and friends went on this tour and had a great time, from what I could gather. Keep in mind that 6 people fills a boat, but you can go rafting even with an uneven number. My words fall way too short in how I can describe this tour. For the start of my vacation here, however, I can assure you I loved every moment of it. Definitely a recommendation. Do make sure to bring shoes that can get wet, though, because you'll be making gigantic splashes.

Waanzinnige ervaring, super goede organisatie!

¡PURA VIDA!
