Your adventure begins at the main gates of the place, where you will be greeted and greeted by the friendly staff who will accompany you on the tour. They climb waterfall 7, 12 or 27 and then return through each level jumping, swimming and sliding down the natural slides. Life jackets and helmets are included for the protection of our visitors. If you want to take photos or videos on the tour, just bring a waterproof camera. Rio Damajagua is an adventure. You will be swimming, jumping, sliding and climbing until your heart is satisfied.
Jumping down a waterfall is a fairly common experience, which can occur in all corners of the world. Skipping twenty-seven of them, however, only happens in the Dominican Republic. The Damajagua River is a river that is located on the north side of the island, near the city of Puerto Plata, and forms twenty-seven natural waterfalls known as puddles.

The guided tour was Amazing from start to finish!!! Tamares was an excellent guide and showed up in an as-advertised, clean, and air-conditioned van which held the 6 of us splendidly. He was a great conversationalist and knew a great deal about Puerta Plata and surrounding areas. When we arrived at Damajagua, he whisked us through the lines and holding areas for the other larger groups and gave us the VIP treatment with Moreno and the other guides. The experience itself was amazing and extremely refreshing. The guides were all super personable and skilled and did an AMAZING job capturing everything on our cell phones. We came back with tons of videos and pictures. After visiting the waterfalls Tamares offered to take us to his childhood home, and then to town to see the sights before bringing us back to port. We all agree this was by far our favorite excursion and we are so glad we chose to book through Viator instead of the ship. If you book this experience be sure to request Tamares; he is Awesome!!!

Everything was completely taken care of! They picked us up from our cruise port and insured that we had an amazing time. Our driver was excellent as well as our guides and we would really recommend this experience to anybody. Great value for money as food was included.

The overall experience from site and the staff was perfect! I enjoyed my time and would recommend this to everyone! The water was a perfect temperature even in December!

Was super fun with friendly staff, but it’s only 7 waterfalls NOT 27!! Takes about 3 hours and the place is packed!!! Everyone from the cruise is there!

They should really mention that you get nowhere near 27 waterfalls. You only get to do 12 max. And over half of them are kid style, very small falls. I would say only 2 or 3 were fun. The post is misleading.

The experience started when we were picked up by our tour guide Juan Polanico. The bus ride was fun as you get to drive through the town; the bus is also fully open and an experience In and of itself.
The problem was when we first arrived we were hearded like cattle and extremely rushed. They tell you to bring water shoes but they do not tell you that crocs are prohibited. Even though the entiredy of the staff is sporting them. We then had to pay 8 dollars USD to rent a pair of water shoes. They also failed to mention we could wear sneakers, after the place had already taken our money. Then we couldn't even change because we were being rushed to get helmets and life jackets. Going to the water falls in leggings and tank tops was far from ideal. The place is packed with people and the tour guide as well as the falls guide yell and rush you along. We were snapped at and yelled at throughout the day. This could be because we traveled as two females- groups with men did not seem to have this problem. The pictures they take of you are 45 dollars, which they try to pressure you to buy. They also don't tell you that you can share the price (everyone in the group chips in) until it's too late. Although the staff was rude It was impossible to not enjoy the falls! The water was beautiful and swimming through the falls surrounded by rock walls was a unique experience. Also it is quite the adrenaline rush to jump into the varying pools along the way. The food at the restraunt was also delicious and water was provided throughout the trip by the tour guide. Overall the activity was fun but we felt very ripped off and we won't be returning.

Lots of fun - thought there was 27 slides or jumps - not the case. 30-40 min hike up and then back down. 2 jumps and about 4 slides. Guides were great, driver did extra by driving us through town. I would recommend it.
