Stop At: The Alhambra, Calle Real de la Alhambra, s/n Palacio de Carlos V, 18009 Granada Spain

The Alhambra, located on the Sabica hill, is an Andalusian palatine city.
Its name comes from the reddish colour of its walls, coming from the clay of the land itself (Al-Hamra in Arabic).
It is formed by a group of palaces, gardens and fortress where there was a citadel within the city of Granada itself, its main function was to serve as accommodation for the monarch and the court of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada. There are also Christian settlements, such as the palace of Charles V and the church of Santa Maria, built on top of the old mosque.
It is one of the most visited monuments in Spain and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984.
Enjoy the visit with an official guide.

Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Alcazaba, Calle Real de la Alhambra Conjunto Monumental de la Alhambra y el Generalife, 18009 Granada Spain

The Alcazaba is the oldest part of the Alhambra, from the Arabic: القصبة al-qaṣbah (citadel) was a fortified enclosure of urban character, whose function was to serve as royal residence to Mohamed I until the Palaces were finished, from there its function was purely military.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Nasrid Palaces, Calle Real De La Alhambra, 18009 Granada Spain

The Nasrid Palaces, are a palace complex of the Alhambra of Granada formed by two independent palaces, the Palace of Comares and the Palace of the Lions, and annexes, Mexuar, its construction dates from the first third of the fourteenth century.
The Alcázar or "Qasr al-Sultán" was the palace area of the Alhambra, the nucleus of the Nasrid kingdom. In this area resided the sultans, in addition to receiving an audience, dispachar the affairs of government or manage the administration of the court.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Palace of Carlos V, Alhambra, 18009 Granada Spain

Carlos V's palace is a Renaissance construction by the architect Pedro Machuca. The palace is unique in its style, forming a square with a circular courtyard inscribed inside. It is the most outstanding work of the Spanish Renaissance.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Palacio El Partal, Calle Real de la Alhambra 2, 18009 Alhambra Spain

El Partal integrates archaeological and architectural remains corresponding to palatine rooms.

Its name in Arabic means portico, and refers to the remains of the residence of Sultan Muhammad III, the northernmost and oldest.

In these gardens, you can see the remains of several palaces, as this area was inhabited by the Muslim nobility. The most important was the Palace of Yusuf III, with a floor plan similar to the Palace of Comares, sadly demolished in the 18th century.

The Partal Gardens are an incredible place to stroll or stop during your visit to the Alhambra in Granada.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Generalife Realejo-San Matias, 18009 Granada Spain

The Generalife is the villa with gardens used by the Muslim kings of Granada as a place of retreat and rest. It was conceived as a rural villa, where ornamental gardens, orchards and architecture were integrated in the vicinity of the Alhambra.
The name we give to the Generalife complex literally means Yannat al-Arif: "The Architect's Garden", an allusion to the gardens and orchards that supplied fruit and vegetables to the Nasrid court. However, the palace to which we are heading, designed as a resting place for the monarch, was what the poet Ibn al-Jayyab called "the royal house of happiness".

A bucket list visit! Worth all the hype. The guide provided an excellent tour. Very informative and entertaining. The Nasrid palace is the crown jewel of the sites in the Alhambra. Do not miss it.

Rip off merchants. Although you think you’re on the official website you’re not. Charged us €198 for tickets worth €36. Unfortunately we only found this out after we’d arrived. Plus you have to collect your tickets & audio device off the Alhambra Palace complex. We tried to find it for well over an hour. Even paid a local taxi driver to take us there, even he didn’t know. Eventually we found a kind lady in the main info office who suggested they email the tickets to us. Wasn’t ideal because we had to do without the audio. When we eventually arrived at Nasrid palace an hour & half later they refused us entry because we’d missed our 11.00 slot. Complete waste of a day, an hour to get there. Most of what we did see you can just walk into for free. Please, please look at Trip Advisor & other sites before booking with these con merchants.

Nacho was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable and kept it fun with amusing stories about the sultans and kings and queens. The headsets were very helpful so that he didn’t have to shout and we could hear every word clearly. Some reviews mentioned static in the headsets. That only happened rarely when Nacho was ahead of us by 50 meters or so. It was about 2.5 hours with one 10 minute bathroom break. We were exhausted and saturated with info by the end but really felt that we saw everything we needed to see and got a good understanding of the history. One important note unrelated to the tour- the walk to the meeting point - La Mimbre Restaurant- from the Albaicin neighborhood- is a very steep climb! The map said 15 minutes, but it didn’t account for how long and steep the footpath is. We had to turn back and take a taxi which was hard to find and took half an hour of driving through congested streets. So unless you want to walk uphill for a long time, take a taxi from Centro and plan 30-40 minutes to get there.

The tour really gives you the full picture of Alhambra: gardens, palaces, and archeological finds. Our guide, Dante, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Alhambra. He interjected humorous comments and stories into his narrative, making it not only informative but entertaining. He took great care to make sure that the whole group stayed with him and gave us plenty of opportunities to take pictures and also take WC breaks. I missed the window for getting Alhambra tickets directly and was despondent about missing it altogether during my brief time in Granada; this tour made it possible to see the whole thing anyway! One other note: I forgot to bring my ID, which is needed to get into key areas of Alhambra; Dante advised me on how to get a replacement ID from the local officials so I could enjoy the tour. Much appreciated!!!

The Alhambra requires a lot of walking, the highlight being the Nasrid Palace. Firstly the viator price is much higher than when booked directly with the company. Secondly the group was pretty sizable with almost 20 people, the guide didn't have any marker to see him in the crowd, that would be helpful. We all had individual earpieces to hear the commentary which was useful. There are free audioguides for the alhambra at various points

Fantastic palace and the tour made good progress. The free bus journeys proved to be impossible to obtain. We went to 2 of the designated machines to get the tickets, but the option was greyed out. Very disappointing.

This 3 hour tour was one of the most interesting we have ever done. Our guide Julian shared the information comprehensively and delivered it in a clear and easy way. He was personable and readily answered any questions. His enthusiasm for Alhambra was infectious. The tour exceeded our expectation and has left us with a greater appreciation of Alhambra.
