Then you will observe Museumplein, where masterpiece-packed Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, and Moco Museum are located. There was a wax candle factory here before, and now it is a beautiful spacious square. In winter its pond is transformed to skating area, and square is often used for public events, such as festivals and demonstrations. Main "I AMsterdam" sign is also located here, which makes this place perfect for taking photos.

Find a cozy Amstelveld square where you can find a flower market every Monday. Locals and tourists can buy fresh flowers and plants, as well as cheeses, organic products, and dishes. Get to see Amstelkerk, the last wooden church in Amsterdam, completed in 1670. The building no longer functions as a church, though.

The Amstel will take you back in time with a fairy-tale architecture surrounding hidden neighborhood squares. It is better to enjoy the Amstel on clear days or sunsets. You will also listen to scary stories about The House with The Blood Stains, former home of a mad diplomat. Its plain gray façade is marked with strange reddish-brown symbols that are said to be arcane Kabbalistic signs painted with blood.

Go over the famous Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) crossing the Amstel River. It was erected in 1969 as a copy of a 17th-century leaf bridge. Listen to the legend about the Mager sisters and their pedestrian bridge and why the place was called like that. Soak in the great views around and marvel at the bridge in the evening when it’s illuminated by thousands of bulbs.
