You can still see the ruins of these buildings under the bridge. Faial is also known for its bridges, the highest being 130 meters and known as Ponte das Sete Bocas, but unfortunately the bridge collapsed in a severe storm in 1984. Great 2 day trip around the east & west coasts. We were taken in a 16 seat minibus each day, with an English speaking driver/guide, who knows the area very well. Our driver the first day knew his stuff but I didn't see him smile until he dropped us off at the end of the day! Paul Coelho, (not the author!) was our driver on the 2nd day & he was very friendly & smiled a lot! Definitely a great way to see the island.

An excellent 2 days, the best day for me being the east coast - the scenery’s absolutely stunning. Our guide was very informative but I only saw him smile once & that was as he dropped us off! The west coast wasn’t as impressive but the guide was very good (smiled a lot!).

Amazing two days. Loved the variety of places we visited. Really enjoyed both the mountain and coastal scenery. Both guides were really knowledgeable about Madeira. Sergio (day 2 Eastern Madeira) was exceptional. Highly recommend doing both East and West Island tours.

We were considering renting a car, but I’m glad we didn’t! Paulo taught us everything to know about Madeira and much more. I loved learning about the historical context. I like to ask a lot of questions, and Paulo encouraged me to ask more. With Paulo as our guide, we were able to get a true understanding of the island. He is very down to earth and kind. We would do it again and highly recommend Paulo!

We were incredibly impressed with Feeling Madeira regarding the 3 trips we booked with them. The staff were exceptionally professional, customer focused, caring, and informative. We highly recommend this company for tours across Madeira. West Island - of the two day Island tour, this was our favourite. We loved visiting a banana plantation, swimming in the rock pools at Porto Moniz and learning about the social history of the area. Rabacal and 25 Fontes walk - we enjoyed walking alongside the Levada and seeing beautiful fountains. There were quite a lot of sections which had very steep paths, which were very slippery from rain and mud. Hiking boots, with good grip, were essential. Pico de Areeiro - when planning our trip this was the walk we really wanted to do. But the Feeling Madeira drivers informed us how difficult it would be, how dangerous it was, and how it would take 4- 5 days to recover from it. However, later in our trip, we met elderly tourists who had completed the walk & a mountain guide who advised it was beautiful and possible for the majority of tourists. We contacted Feeling Madeira to enquire about booking places but didn't receive a reply, which was odd given how responsive they were when we booked the other 3 tours.

Gloria was the best. Professional, efficient, personable and effective. 10 out of 10. Ok so please lose the 100 character requirement, so silly. I guess I should just keep writing until I get there Thanks Gloria!

This tour was well worth the cost. Views were spectacular. Lionel the tour guide was exceptional . He provided excellent commentary in two languages. He was very personable and interacted well with the group. He is obviously well versed in the history and geography of Maderia. He is also a very competent driver.

Beautiful scenery, waterfalls and tasting the local rum. The first day our tour guide was exceptional (Lionel). He was interactive the whole tour. The bus was all English except for one couple only spoke Portuguese. So Lionel was speaking both languages very fluent!
