Signed up for the morning class. It was conducted by a lady, she is EXTREMELY patient and fun to work with. It was my 1st time trying such workshop. I was struggling, yet the lady instructor was so so so calm and patient with me (thank you so much 😭) The class went on for 2.5 - 3 hours, managed to make 5 pieces. Brought home 2 as a keepsake.

We were in a group of for which left plenty of time for the instructor to attend to each of us. He was very patient and helpful and we all ended up with a few nice pieces, covered in clay to show we had indeed achieved some presentable pots. They glazed them for us and the result was impressive, we are well pleazed with what we got. This was ondeed a very pleasant afternoon spent learning a new skill and we would recommend you try it too.

My husband and I had a great morning taking a wheel-throwing class. The instructor was patient and there were three other people, so 5 in the experience total. The instructor centered the clay for the participants on the wheel and then guided them along the process of creating a piece; opening the clay, pulling the clay up, and shaping the clay. We threw a few pieces until we were ready to stop and choose one to be fired and glazed. For a small extra cost, you can take home more than one of your pieces. A few days later we were able to pick up our final pieces! I am impressed by how quickly they were glazed and fired. Tony, who works at the shop, is friendly and knowledgable and I loved learning a little about the village of Bat Trang and that my husband and I were able to return home with actual finished ceramic pieces from our pottery class experience. Highly recommended if you want to get clay on your hands or try wheel throwing. Beautiful glaze selection, too! I am also glad I had the insight to do this early on our Hanoi adventure, as the pieces we made still took a few days to finish on Authentic Bat Trang's end with the firing and glazing. Thank you for a unique experience!

We loved our pottery experience. We both have very little pottery experience and this class was super fun. Once shown a demonstration we were given free will of the wheel and just gave it a go, if we ever needed help or more explanation the guide was willing to help. We were very happy with our pieces at the end, we ended up paying for a couple of extra pots to take home from our class. We made sure to do this at the start of our trip in Hanoi to allow plenty of time for firing.

It was a fun experience, I made 4 pieces 3 of which were not too bad considering it was my first attempt at pottery but I was best pleased with the cup I made, complete with handle and decoration

I had a wonderful time at this workshop in the Old Quarter and the ceramic shop was unique. The owner, who grew up in Bac Trang Pottery Village, hosted the workshop. Initially, we gathered at the ceramics store and were led around the corner to a secret alley where the ceramics studio was located. The host demonstrated how to make a cup, vase, bowl, and plate within seconds, and it was like magic! We all had our own motorized turntables, and the host went around helping each of us create our pieces. We had 4-5 hours to make as many pieces as we wanted, and later we could choose which ones to fire/glaze and take home. The workshop includes one free ceramic, and any others are about $5 USD per piece extra. However, you need to stay in Hanoi for a few days for them to fire and glaze your pieces. If you don't have plans to stay in Hanoi, you can also choose pieces in the shop to bring home or have them shipped to you. After a long trip in the North, I picked up my pieces weeks later, and they came out beautifully with a lovely stamp at the bottom marking the shop and memory. This is an authentic experience that you should try while in Hanoi, especially on a rainy day.
