Depart from the old harbour in Volendam on your bike to explore multiple villages. Along the route you will see a beautiful windmill, lots of meadows, a countless number of cows and sheeps and you will cross the famous Dutch dikes. The one time you will be cruising on top of the dike, so you can see (and even dive into!) the lake, the 'Gouwzee'. The other time you are riding meters below sea level along the dike to experience how the Dutch locals live behind the dikes.
From Volendam you can either choose or be advised which villages you would like to visit with your bike. Within one hour you can perfectly visit Edam, a almost 800 year old town north of Volendam. Edam is famous for its peaceful narrow alleys and small canals, the beautiful façades of the cozy houses and the unique small boutiques. Also Edam is known for its cheese market where visitors can both taste and purchase a various number of cheeses.
Also another town, which is called Monnickendam can be visited in only one hour of time. When walking or cruising around in the old center of Monnickendam it will feel like you went back in time. Along the streets you will see the beautiful houses made of light bronze bricks. Also the old harbour with its pretty ships and charming terraces is definitely worth a visit. An absolute highlight in Monnickendam is the beer brewery, where you can see where and how the beer is brewed, where you can taste the homemade sausages and enjoy the lovely terrace along the water.
When you have more time to spend it is highly advised to make a tour from Volendam to Monnickendam and from Monnickendam to the former island Marken. Marken is a stunning town with lovely bridges over the small canals and really nice wooden façades. As the island can only be reached by the 10 kilometer long dike, the small town is surrounded by water where it becomes really clear again how the Dutch are dealing with living below sealevel. From Marken it is possible to take the boat back to Volendam. The Volendam-Marken Express is departing each 30 minutes from Marken to Volendam and it is possible to bring your bike on the ship. After a 30 minutes cruise you will be back in Volendam where you can drive underneath the dike back to the rental company to bring back your bike.

We had fantastic customer service from Rent and Event. We only needed to hire two bikes as our rental property had two existing bikes. But even still, the lady who served us showed us how to navigate the locks on our current bikes. We were given routes, tips and directions as well as vouchers for restaurants.These were very good value. All in alll an excellent experience

When we came to pick up the bike, our order was not registered in the system. But, the staff did a quick check in their email and found the order. After that, we got a brief explanation about the route we can take etc.
He suggested the suitable bikes for the whole family.
The rest was just a lovely biking ride trip in the area.
Definitely a recommended service.

After reading reviews of Waterland, we took a public bus to Volendam, renting 2 bikes from this company. Easy walk from bus stop. The staff were so helpful, spoke english, fitted 3 speed bikes to us, gave us a very good detailed map and off we went. We biked a loop through Monnickendam, out the causeway to Marken and boarded the ferry back to Volendam. The bike rental also set us up with ferry tickets (including bikes). So convenient! Highly recommend this bike rental company.

Molto gentili e organizzati i due ragazzi che gestiscono il noleggio. Numerose biciclette con molta varietà nell'offerta. La pedalata fino a Marken è fattibile anche in famiglia,solo attenzione al vento!!

Wij hebben afgelopen maandag 7 fietsen gehuurd om hiermee een mooie tocht door Waterland te fietsen. Bij aankomst stonden er 7 hele mooie fietsen op ons te wachten en werden wij verwelkomt door heel aardig personeel! Dit heeft zeker bijgedragen aan onze mooie fietstocht.

Super leuke fietstocht gemaakt vanaf het europarcs resort , heel mooi gebied op doorheen te fietsen. Zuiderwoude Randorp , Durgerdam echt een aanrader!

Het was een fantastische fietstocht die we gemaakt hebben vanuit Volendam! We hadden geluk met het zomerse weer (en dat in september!) maar los daarvan was de fietstocht fantastisch! We zijn vanuit Volendam naar Monnickendam gereden, toen naar Broek in Waterland (echt een aanrader, zo mooi!) en toen via Zuiderwoude naar Uitdam. Het was een prachtige tocht met leuke stops bij een molen, een kaasboerderij, de haven van Monnickendam en het pannenkoekenhuis in Broek in Waterland. In Uitdam hebben we sups gehuurd waarmee we heerlijk op het water hebben rond gepeddeld, niet droog gehouden uiteraard! Daarna zijn we nog naar Marken gereden, gestopt bij de vuurtoren en toen met de boot terug. Wat een mooie route! Echt een aanrader om te doen bij een bezoek aan Volendam! De omliggende dorpjes hebben zo veel te bieden!
