Your visit to Boone Hall Plantation starts with transportation by climate-controlled bus from the Charleston Visitor Center. Your gate fee is included in the price of the tour.

Founded in 1681, Boone Hall was built when Englishman Major John Boone came to Charleston and established a home on the banks of Wampacheone Creek. When you arrive, your tour begins on the front porch with a 30-minute presentation by a knowledgeable guide in historical dress. You will be introduced to the history of Boone Hall and its evolution through a variety of owners since the 17th century.

Learn many facets of the plantation's history, and listen to a presentation called Slave Street, which provides a look at the living quarters, historical relics, and insight into the life of the slaves here. In addition, learn about Gullah culture, the language of the descendants of slaves who lived in the Lowcountry of Georgia and South Carolina. Boone Hall is the only plantation in the South Carolina Lowcountry to present a live presentation, in season, about this culture.

At the end of your journey, tour the garden to see antique roses that are more than 100 years old. Then head back to the bus for the return drive to Charleston.

Sorry, I didn't get the name of our driver, but he was very knowledgeable and provided historical info. The plantation was very interesting. There is a lot to see but definitely see the Gullah presentation, the home tour and do the tram ride.

Benji was an excellent driver and gave us a wonderful overview of what to expect at the plantation. The tour of the lovely house and exquisite gardens was great! Be sure not to miss Miss Jackie’s presentation on Gullah culture- so informative!

The grounds are beautiful with the tall oak trees lining the drive up to the house all with hanging moss. The gardens around the house were in full bloom. The house itself dates back to the early 1900’s so it is not the original.it is a private home and you can only see three rooms on the first floor. There is a Steinway piano in the living room that dates back to the late 1800’s. You can easily take an Uber to this location. They make it easy with a drop off and pick up station on the premises. The slave quarters and othe buildings go back to the period prior to the civil war

The Boone Hall Plantation is a good tour. The best part of the tour was the presentation of the gullah history. In my opinion, more time is needed to view the property. I was not able to get tractor ride , view the outside of the main home and other areas because of the short time spent. If I were to return I would take private transportation to the Plantation.

Our shuttle driver, Sean, was incredible. I felt like we were on a history tour instead of just having transportation to the Plantation! The plantation tour was also great and the cafe was also greatly! I highly recommend!
