First, guests choose a T-shirt from the black and white options and sizes from women M and L to men XXXL and kanji letters from the menu, then also choose an ink color from our lots of options. Then try to draw it on the shirt with a soft chackle pencile. With your request, the same kanji can be drawn in front of you as a sample to copy off, and you can also take it home. When you think it looks good enough, with some advice from me, then try to paint the kanji with the ink that you have also chosen from our several options. When the kanji is drawn on the t-shirt, extra ink should be removed with thin sheets of paper over the kanji. The T-shirt hangs up to dry while you enjoy Japanese mochi sweets of a few kinds with Matcha Japanese tea. You can either put the shirt on or take it home folded in a plastic bag. We also offer the same activity for doing it on lanterns, the same procedure as for the T-shirts, and at the end you will have a nice gift made by your own hands in a far-away Japan. At the end of the course, you will have a surprise with a free gift. Both activities take about 1 hour, with full guidance from master Yoko sensei.

We absolutely loved this experience!! Yoko and Marian are both so sweet and welcoming. After we finished with our shirts they brought out traditional Japanese appetizers, desserts and tea for us to try. Marian even helped me fine tune my chopstick skills. Of all the experiences we had in Japan this was my favorite. I would recommend Yoko and Marian a thousand times.

This activity was such a unique experience and we are very glad to have signed up. By the end, we learned a little about Japanese culture, ate some food we might not have tried otherwise, and had two t-shirts we can wear when we get home. Prior to our activity, we got a message telling us where to meet (at the base of the Skytree) and we were able to explore that area before meeting. When we got to the bridge, we were promptly met and walked over to the studio, which was very close by and up a flight of stairs. Upon entering, we changed from our shoes to slippers and hung up our pesky coats, and then we got right into some art. To begin, my wife and I were each given t-shirt options to select from - different sizes and either black or white colors. We both chose black shirts. We then selected the paint colors; my wife chose lime green and I chose blue. And finally, we were shown different designs to select from that we could paint on our shirts. After making all the choices, we then used wax pencils to draw the designs out on our shirts. We each did this a little differently, but at the end, we had nicely sketched designs. We then go to paint these. My wife did hers very neat and added the word Tokyo under it. Mine was a little messier, and I accidentally dripped paint, so I added several more drips on purpose so it had some chaos. After dabbing up extra paint, we then hung these to dry. While drying, we then were treated to traditional Japanese foods and treats. If you do this, make sure you try them all. There was only one my wife didn’t like, and I different one I didn’t like, so it was neat to compare. I probably wouldn’t have tried some of these treats and sweets in another environment, and now I also learned some about that as well. We also had some tea with the snacks, and I think we might be adding this to our shopping list to bring home. After our snacks, we packed up the now dry shirts carefully. And then were given some neat takeaways to try when we get home with our nieces - a lantern and fan with some tools to draw designs on them. As well as a notecards and a slip of paper to write our names on for her to pray for us in future. This was a truly one of a kind experience and we met a couple of nice people and have great memories to take home.

I love Japanese Calligraphy 書道 and FINALLY got to try it out. I went solo but I was simply overwhelmed by the kindness, charm and hospitality of the master Yoko Sensei. She offered not only a simple calligraphy lesson but SO MUCH MORE. She taught me some useful Japanese and offered me beautiful traditional Japanese food/desserts - such as sweet mochi (sticky rice cakes). It did not feel like just one hour. I MUST bring my friends next time.

I have attended this Kanji T-Shirt making session with my 2 other friends. We have attended the session before visiting Skytree that is the other side of the street from this location. I highly recommend this session to anyone who is planning to visit Skytree..it was one hr session so it fit our busy sight-seeing schedule very well. The instructor was so sweet and kind - we just felt SO welcomed! We had so much fun together here and can't wait to show off the beautiful T-shirt I made to my friends back home in Germany.

Painting on a t-shirt is something that we didn't try in our previously numerous trips, but here in Japan it seems to be popular. Very nice environment, good English from the hosting lady, and also very patience with us the amateurs:)) The sweets we did tried before, abut here seems to be better. Easy to find it, just in the front of the famous Skytree in Tokyo. good experience and memory for us all.
