Welcome to the stunning Ciénega de la Virgen lagoon, a wildlife-rich environment filled with beautiful mangroves. Climb aboard a sturdy canoe and participate in the local art of crabbing, net fishing, and bird-watching, exploring the enchanting mangrove tunnels. During your adventure, an experienced guide will teach you the tricks of the trade, from baiting crab traps to seeking out edible snails.
You can choose to catch and release or keep any legally sized catch according to local regulations. If you're interested, you can also make a pit stop at a remote island for an additional fee to view a small fish farm and meet a friendly raccoon.
After your adventure, enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a beachfront restaurant, where you can choose between whole-fried fish, vegetarian plate, or grilled chicken, accompanied by soup, salad, fried plantains, coconut rice, and beverage of your choice.

Wow, where do I start? Such a fun experience, the locals in La Boquilla were very welcoming and helpful. We managed to catch over 15 crabs and a couple of small tilapia. Lunch was great and served right in front of the beach! From pick up to drop off our translator John was so helpful and gave us recommendations for places around Cartagena!
Must do experience when visiting! Michael does an amazing job of making sure everyone is taken care of!

We did this with our family - super fun and unique! Everyone enjoyed it. Our Guide John was great and the fishing caption was very friendly and experienced.
We were hesitant about doing the afternoon session as we didn't see many reviews for that. We did it away and it still worked great - it was slightly cloudy so not too hot, and we still caught plenty of crabs. A nice perk was we got to enjoy a nice meal as the sunset at the beach. The kids also got to see the local life for the neighborhood which is very different from downtown Cartegna.
Also, a big THANK YOU to Michael the owner. His customer service is top notch. We enjoyed this trip so much, we used him to book a private boat the following day to take us to a private beach club on the islands and snorkeling stops. This was also a perfect experience! We were in a bind booking the boat late the evening before, and he responded promptly to help anyway. He also helped with some special accommodations we needed for the boat, and he handled late in the evening and we were grateful for that.
We travel international 2-3 times a year and book many excursions and Michael's customer service is exceptional.

The crabbing and fishing was fun. The tour guide was intelligent, kind and friendly! If you want a break from city activities I would highly recommend this experience.

Love the experience. Super fun, safe and peaceful!!!! Will totally recommenced. The canoe ride was beautiful and peaceful. The sand on the mangroves was so smooth it feels like silk and learning how to catch the crabs and fishing was so much fun!

Amazing tour! Highly recommend!
We were taken care of from the moment we booked the tour. We were able to get a fluent English guide (extra charge)- Erika. She was very a formative and friendly. The tour guide kept us informed from the moment we booked the tour from when our ride arrived to when we got dropped off back to our hotel.
We caught over 20 crabs, they were prepared for us to eat at the end of the tour along with a choice of chicken/fish meal. We tried to catch fish with a net but had no luck- but it was fun learning how too. We were brought to a little island and purchased coconuts and they showed us around, from the dogs, turtles, fish farm, history.

As many before me have written this is a wonderful experience. John, our intrepid and good looking guide, helped us explore some true Colombian culture. On top of marginally learning the art of net casting and correct baiting and location for crab pots, I learned firsthand the honesty and friendliness of the local fisherfolk. I dropped my iPhone in the waist deep water and swore a lot. A total of seven locals stopped everything to look for it going as far as spreading a 20 meter fishing net to drag the bottom. Unfortunately it was lost. Thank goodness I took out phone insurance this time. I declared the phone lost and we took our fish and crab catch to some other locals to book and feed us.
While eating our spectacular fresh caught lunch John received a phone call. The fisherfolk had continued to search and had found my phone. The fisherman showed up about 15 minutes later with my phone! Incredible!! John had urged me not to lose hope. To top it off, the phone was still powered on and functioning perfectly.
Yes, I gave the man a reward!

Best tour we experienced in Columbia. We did many many tours and this crabbing tour is a winner. Our translator John was the best and we went crabbing, fishing, saw beautiful nature, met incredibly friendly locals and fishermen. Ate a delicious lunch on the beach and just felt at peace. This is the tour that all nature and culture lovers should experience. 10/10. Perfect! Thank you for an excellent experience!
