Philip was an engaging, informative guide. He pointed out interesting architectural and historical details. The pace was easy, nice break at city hall for water and facilities. Highly recommend, especially for a firsttime visitor like myself.

Our guide Philip made the tour informative and entertaining. His experience as a history teacher was a definite plus. The time went quickly but wasn’t rushed There was enough shade along the walk so we didn’t wilt Charleston walking

Tour guide, Philip, combined in-depth knowledge and a sense of humor to bring Charleston‘s history alive. The knowledge he shared about houses, churches, alleyways, roads, architecture and decorative wrought iron was combined with details about significant historical individuals and historical events and natural events. He dispelled commonly held myths with facts. The walking pace was perfect and he willingly paused to answer dozens of questions and allow for picture taking. History is his background and it clearly shows. I would take a tour again with him at any time. Now, as I walk around Charleston, I have a much greater appreciation for everything I see and experience.

Philip was a great guide; he is very knowledgeable about the area. While some guides / adults would be flustered by a 4 year old in the group and her random questions, Philip handled it like a champ. I learned a ton of historical and fun info on this tour. Another huge bonus for me: Philip texted us before the tour with clarification of the location to meet. Since we unexpectedly ran into Carnival Cruise traffic, this was amazing to be able to communicate our last minute challenges. I definitely recommend Philip's tour for anyone looking to get a sampling of Charleston's history and significance.

Our your guide, Jeff, was so friendly and not only asked where everyone was from, but remembered it and mentioned it if it came up somehow during the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable and I appreciate that the tour doesn't shy away from the dark parts of Charleston's past (major slave port). I highly recommend this tour!
