Cheese Taste and Tour to Vik and Fjærland

Itinerary

Day 1: Bergen - Vik

Stop At: STORESVINGEN FJELLSTOVE, 6893 Vik, Norway
On the decent from Vikafjell mountain to Vik, the bus will stop at the viewpoint “Storesvingen”(about one hour from Voss). The viewpoint offers excellent photo opportunities with magnificent views of Vik Village and Sognefjorden.

Stop At: Hopperstad Stave Church, Vik, 6893 Norway
The village of Vik has a rich cultural heritage. The main attraction in Vik is the richly decorated stave church “Hopperstad Stavkirke”. Hopperstad was built in 1130 and is, together with Urnes, the oldest stave church in existence. There will be a 30 min. stop to visit the Church. You can join a guided tour of the church or explore at your own pace. The local guide speaks English and Norwegian and the tour is included in the price.

Stop At: Vik Municipality, Vik Municipality, Sogn og Fjordane, Western Norway
Guided tour in Vik and Cheese tasting: Join us for a walk in historically surroundings at Vikøyri. We will stroll between small picturesque homes and boathouses that makes up the beachdweller settlement at Vikøyri. We will also visit one of the small homes that still is left as it was back in the days. The tour will include a taste of the local specialty, "gamalost" which is a cheese that has its origin in vikingtimes. The local dairy is the only dairy in Norway producing this cheese today. Along with the cheese You will be served a raspberry juice. Vik municipality produces approximately 25% of all raspberries in Norway. All our trips are in cooperation with our partners

Day 2: Vik - Fjærland - Bergen

Stop At: Fjærlandsfjorden, Sogndal Municipality, Norway
Enjoy a wonderful fjord cruise to the glacier village of Fjaerland.
Along the fjord we'll pass tiny villages, waterfalls and steep mountains. Fjærland is located where the glacier meets the fjord.
A fjord cruise on the Fjaerlandsfjord will give you the memory of a lifetime! This is a 2 hours cruise on board MV Fjord Lady that will take you from Vik to Fjaerland.

Pass By: Fjaerland, Norway
The beautiful village Fjærland:
Right at the end of Fjærlandsfjorden we reach the charming village Fjærland. The village is perfect to explore by foot and until 1986 it was only possible to arrive to the village by boat. You can choose to explore the village on your own or join the guided tour to the glacier and the Norwegian Glacier Museum. We have two hours at our disposal in Fjærland.

Stop At: Norsk Bremuseum & Ulltveit-moe Senter For Klimaviten, Fjaerlandsfjorden 13, Fjaerland 6848 Norway
On arrival Fjærland, tour go to the Norwegian Glacier Museum. The Norwegian Glacier Museum is an interactive museum for the Whole Family. The Museum gives knowledge about glaciers and climate in New innovative ways.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Boeyabreen Glacier, Sogndal 6848, Fjaerland 6848 Norway
From the Norwegian Glacier Museum the tour continues by bus up to Bøyabreen glacier – a branch of Jostedalsbreen glacier. Here it is time to take some photos and see how the glacier presses itself into the landscape.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Tvindefossen, Norway
The bus returns to Fjærland quay, and the tour goes back to Vik. From Vik the tour continues to the Tvindefossen waterfall. The waterfall is 110 meter high and is very popular tourist attraction.

The Tvindefossen waterfall also has many myths, among others that the waterfall is a source of eternal youth! The waterfall lies just along the road.
