This brief session provides an opportunity to deepen your cultural immersion, offering hands-on experiences with the art of traditional Chinese writing.

The activity introduces participants to the art's history, tools, and
techniques.
Through guided instruction, attendees learn brush
strokes, characters, and the aesthetic principles of calligraphy.
It offers a meditative and rewarding experience, allowing
participants to create their own calligraphic pieces and fostering a
deeper connection with China's rich cultural heritage.
After the experience, even you are a beginner in Chinese, you will learn at least 10 Chinese characters(Hanzi), a surprise for you to know that it is not that difficult to learn Mandarin.

Taking a calligraphy class from Master Guo Baoqing was my favorite experience during my 4 weeks in Beijing. Master Guo's teaching style is supportive and hands-on, which allowed me to connect with the process right away. In addition, I learned how the calligraphy system evolved historically and gained an appreciation for the expressive nature of Chinese writing. Master Guo's credentials are incredible (leading many professional organizations, academic advisor, and official calligrapher for 2008 Olympics greetings) and you will have an amazing lesson that will be a highlight of your trip.
