Stop At: Manarola, Manarola, Cinque Terre, Italian Riviera, Liguria

Manarola Italy what to see: buildings, vegetation, vineyards, and wine tasting
The first land we’ll reach is Manarola, a tiny jewel that does not have any equal in Italy or worldwide. This place takes its name from the oil mill, underlining the importance of an excellent production still made here by farmers that are real heroes. Olives and extra virgin olive oil produced here are full of smell and taste coming from the sea (that is really close) and the sun, who keeps those lands warm even in the coldest winter.

From an architectural point of view, Manarola is a small town showing a unique kind of Genoese style colored buildings, called ‘case-torri’ (house-towers). They rely on a big rock close to the sea, one next to the other, showing their unique pastel colors. Together with the lush vegetation of the Mediterranean coastal area, they form a unique charming landscape. A view framed by vineyards, a view that you’ll be able to capture comfortably on photos, having the possibility to show this spectacular scenery when you’ll be back at home.

Manarola is also rich in art and history. San Rocco Hospital and the Oratorio dei Disciplinati are worth the visit. Then, in the upper part of the village you can visit the Gothic Church of San Lorenzo (1338) and its Baroque interiors. Here also relies the Torre Campanaria. The white bell tower, unusually separated from the church, offers a wonderful panorama sweeping down to the sea.

Duration: 2 minutes

Stop At: Riomaggiore, Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, Italian Riviera, Liguria

Riomaggiore Italy: the starting point of Via dell’Amore
Riomaggiore is one of the biggest villages in the Cinque Terre. Founded by fishermen who have been struggling since the dawn of time to get anchovies from the sea, this natural port is a truly suggestive place. The narrow streets called caruggi are crossed by lights and shadows, creating a unique effect, during summers and winters. Here houses are famous for their double entrance, one is located on the facade, in front of the alley, the other on the back, in correspondence of the upper street. When pirates came to conquer their houses, Riomaggiore citizens escaped from the back door. In this town, you can also visit the castle, located on the Cerricò hill, and the church of San Giovanni Battista.

Riomaggiore is also the starting point of the famous Path of Love, the Via dell’Amore, a fantastic road connecting the village to Manarola by foot.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Vernazza, Vernazza, Cinque Terre, Italian Riviera, Liguria

Vernazza Italy: the true colors of Cinque Terre
If you are looking to find the true colors of the Cinque Terre, Vernazza is the right place for you. Here the atmosphere is unique and you can lose yourself in a typical medieval village, with its enigmatic alleys and the case-torri, colored in red, yellow and pink. Despite being much frequented by tourists, Vernazza is maintaining its maritime tradition, fishermen and sailors are still active here. Regarding art and history, you can visit the Doria Castle, built to protect the village from pirate raids, nowadays used as an exhibition site. You can also have a look at the Church of Santa Margherita of Antiochia, conserving the relics of the Saint since its construction, after 1318, with its octagonal bell tower.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Monterosso al Mare, Monterosso al Mare, Cinque Terre, Italian Riviera, Liguria

Monterosso al Mare, the pearl of Cinque Terre
Our tour leaders will guide you to visit the pearl of Cinque Terre, Monterosso al Mare. Well-positioned in the center of a natural basin, Monterosso town goes down to the sea, embracing its sparkling waters. People who love to have a bath or to explore the seabed can find here the tight opportunity. Monterosso offers some spacious and easy-to-access beaches made of sand. This is really important for those who don’t like rocks. Monterosso seaside is comfortable and less wild than the other areas of the 5 lands. Monterosso boasts also the Spiaggia del Gigante, the Beach of the Giant, so-called for the statue of Neptune holding up the rocks, created here by Francesco Levacher in 1910. Apart from going to the beach, you have other things to do here. You can visit Monterosso Castle, built by Genoese or the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista, with the fresco of the baptism of Christ. You can also reach the Cappuccini hill, enjoying the breathtaking views of lemon trees, vines, olive trees, and incredible slopes this incredible territory offers.

It was a horrible situation. I was all ready to go. I went down to the meeting place and it wasn’t until everybody told me that I wasn’t registered with them. I went back home and found an email two hours later saying that they weren’t doing that trip today that was the most disappointingsituation I’ve ever been in

DO NOT BOOK THIS TRIP!! The tour guides did not show up as planned from the booking and all other people had no idea what I was talking about. A lot of people have issues with Florence Adventures and I missed out a trip I was really looking forward to. Asked for a refund and disputed the charge with my CC and I’m still waiting. Chat doesn’t respond or even picked up for help.

No one showed up to meet us at the meeting point... We took an uber that cost us $60euros and got to the site 1 hour early and no one show up to take us to our excursion. We checked in with every vendor that was there taking tickets for the ride to Cinque Terre and they all said that we were not part of there groups. We tried calling the number on the tickets and got recordings. We finally were able to send an email to request a refund and they email us back that they would refund us $301.42, when we paid $486.16... no explanation on why they were not there or why we were only getting a partials refund. I've call the number that they gave us to call and never received a call back. I went with Viator because they are normally very good, but they partnered with a company called Florence Adventures and they are very unprofessional! You can never get ahold of anyone its a recording in Italian, so even if you leave a message you never get a call back.

My family chose this tour because it visited 4 towns in Cinque Terre. We arrived at the meeting point about 20 min early and there was a long line. My husband got in line and I grabbed coffee with my teens. It was nice there was a spot to grab a drink! Our tour guides were Philipa and Hillary. There were very friendly and explained everything on the bus ride over. The told us what towns we would visit and how we would travel between them (train/ferry). Our first stop was Riomaggiore. We had about 45-60 min to visit then meet back at the train station for the next stop. They were very clear about what time we needed to meet. The train was extremely packed but they told us what stop to get off at since we couldn’t all stand together in the train. There was an option to eat lunch together in Monterosso but we chose to have lunch on our own. We had the most time in this town. It was the largest and had a lot of restaurants and shops and time to swim. We took a ferry to Vernazza and had about 40 minutes to visit this smaller town. It was definitely a long day but we were glad we chose this tour because it gave us time in each of the towns. Beautiful scenery!

The tour was good. Scenery was beautiful. Very long day, mostly to travel there. Constantino was super organized, gave clear instructions and great recommendations at each village. I would not recommend the lunch option. The restaurant selected was hidden far from the beach, no view of anything, food was average at best. Buy a pizza and beer by the beach and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

So I areived to Villa Costanza on a train ride for around 20 minutes and arrived 30 minutes before to the meeting point. The tour guide was not there, I waited and waited, walked on 35 degree weather around the Villa Costanza station back and forth multiple times and they were not there. No emails or phone calls to cancel and I called them multiple times and no answer. I went back to Florence on the train very upset and disappointed. Unacceptable and extremely unprofessional

We went on the My Tour in Italy group with Luca as our guide. Luca is a historian and really knows his stuff. The drive there (through the Tuscany region) was beautiful and Luca was giving you a history lesson the whole way. You go through the Apuan Alps and can see where marble is mined up in the mountains. It’s really a nice drive. Gino, I believe was the bus driver’s name and he was great. You get about an hour in the towns of Riomaggiore, Manarola and Vernazza. This is a good amount of time but they are extremely busy with tourists. Plenty of shops to hit here. In the town of Monterosso, we got about three hours. You can eat lunch and go to the beach. Luca is very attentive and knows his way around. This was a great trip and I do recommend it. Absolutely beautiful there. The train rides are really packed for the first two, but open up for the last two. Luca definitely sets your expectations though and keeps a watchful eye on everyone so no harm comes to them. It is a full day so be prepared for that. We left at 7am and got back at 8:45. Luca stayed and made sure everyone knew how to get the correct train back to their destinations and where to get off. Top notch guide. Hopefully you can get him. Enjoy.
