This was an excellent tour with a fantastic knowledgeable guide. We learned so much about the process of coffee, cacao and sugar cane. You got to try each product along the way and even made molasses out of the sugar cane syrup which was treat. At the end they provided a cup of black coffee which was excellent and a beef and potato tortilla (vegetarian option too), and a lemonade.

My friend and I had a free day and decided to check out the 3 in 1 tour. We were both "eh," but the reviews looked good, and it was inexpensive (sorry TA, but book directly from Don Juan. It's cheaper), so we decided to give it a chance despite not being super in to the history of our snacks. We both were glad we did it and had a great time. It's actually a very interesting (to some) history of coffee, cocoa, and sugarcane. It honestly could've been incredibly dry and boring, but our guide, Carlos, was fabulous! He made it interactive and was able to answer almost every question asked. The samples of the chocolate were incredible (I bought way too many and I have absolutely NO intention of gifting some lol), the sugar water was surprisingly good, and finally figuring out the different types and brewing processes will help me in the future 😉 Don't go in expecting to the modern processing plant (I don't know why some reviewers thought that was what was going to happen) as this is about how we got to where we are with the 3 today.

Came last minute because we rained out for a hike, and so happy we did - we came just in time to participate in a wonderful tour (normally at 10, but this day was at 11) with just enough time beforehand to enjoy some amazing hot chocolate and coffee in the gift shop por gratis. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable, and we had a very hands-on experience with the chocolate, sugar cane, and coffee portions of the tour. About 2 hours, for $40 US was great for us! Will recommend this place to anyone looking to learn more about the local industry and how our favorite things are made.

Carlos was a warm, engaging, and very knowledgeable tour guide. This tour covered coffee in great detail, from planting to roasting, and provided unlimited coffee samples. Next, chocolate was covered in detail, featuring tastings of cocoa beans, nibs, a cacao mix, and several varieties of chocolate. Finally, the tour concluded with a short demo of sugarcane juicing and a sample. Would recommend this tour for someone with a day or two in the Monteverde area who wants to learn more about these local plants/products.

We loved this tour! Mostly because our tour guide, Mario, was funny and engaging. There were lots of samples along the way while learning about the sugar can process, chocolate and coffee making processes. My kids, aged 14 and 11, loved this tour as well. Definitely better than other chocolate tours I've done previously.
