Meet Chef Federico in Rome’s Piazza Farnese in the morning, and take a stroll to Campo de' Fiori. The bustling piazza is home to a food market, where all the ingredients for your cooking class can be found. Help your chef choose the right vegetables, and select perfect cuts of meat and cheese.
From the food market, you’ll head to a spacious apartment in the heart of Trastevere and step inside to cook. Learn how to make the dough from scratch, and roll out three different types of pasta: stuffed, long, and a short-medium variety. Create three sauces to dress the pasta, as well as a secondo piatto of succulent meat with vegetables. Finish your creations with a dessert.
Finally, sit down to eat your 6-course meal with your chef and group, and toast your achievements with a glass of Italian wine. Take the recipes home with you when the experience ends.

This was one of my favorite experiences in Rome. I have been to Italy before, but on this current trip we booked this Chef in a day and it was wonderful. Chef Federico Alessandri and Chef Paola were so personable and great instructors. We started at Campo de' Fiori market; which was a great immersive experience in itself. They shared lots of tips and tricks and made the whole adventure very fun and enjoyable. Completely recommend if you are an advanced home cook looking for new techniques and recipes to add to your arsenal.

From the market, to the wine, and amazing food we made and ate, this was an amazing experience. They explained why you do certain things while cooking, straight down to the science. Loved the small group atmosphere. I can’t say enough good things about this class. If you want to do a cooking class while in Rome, this is the one to do!

This class was the best activity I did in Rome. Our small group included couples, families, and singles ranging from beginner to intermediate in knowledge of cooking. This five hour class was in depth and worth the time and money. The day starts in a local market where Chef Fabrizio and Chami hand picked the ingredients for the day that influenced the dishes prepared. Chef Fabrizio takes time to educate on where the produce is coming from and what to look for when choosing produce. In the kitchen, we spent most of the time hands on preparing with very little idle time. Chef Fabrizio went through each dish not only teaching us about the recipes, but included knife techniques, kitchen tools/approximate prices, and knowledge about where to find different flavor profiles in each of our ingredients. Wine was also included throughout the class. This class is one of the only classes in Rome that teaches you how to make sauces and pasta from scratch, while most others are just a tourist trap spanning an hour of fluff. The chef also taught us how to plate and present our dishes. If you want to take a cooking class, this is the one to take!

Chef Paola and her partner were amazing! We had an intimate group of 4 and allowed us to really lean into the lesson and joy of cooking. You go to the market and decide on your own menu, so cool! The food was amazing and the mother sauce is something I’m still dreaming about!

This was a great way to spend part of our day! The chef had so much knowledge and passion for food! We learned so much and had a great time together with our group which consisted of folks from all over US and a mom and son from England. We made three types of pasta from scratch and mother sauce which is the base for many sauces. Then we got to eat our efforts with a nice glass of wine! An amazing morning well spent!

After reading through all the options for cooking classes in Rome, we chose "Chef in a Day" and we are so happy we did! This was our favorite day in Rome, with a friendly and knowledgeable chef, a nice group of 11 people, terrific recipes, and really, everything we could have asked for. Chef Fabrizio taught us so much, from nuances with tomato and garlic, the basics of the "mother sauce" and all the tricks of making the best gnocchi we've ever tried. Can't wait to get home to take on the recipes, which we received in the email. Thank you for a great lesson, Fabrizio!
