Stop At: Bibury, Bibury, Cotswolds, England

Bibury - “the most beautiful village in England” On arriving into Bibury you may think you have been transported back to a different age. The village was once described by the British poet, artist and novelist William Morris (1834-96) as “the most beautiful village in England”. Bibury’s attractions includes Arlington Row, a 17th century row of weavers cottages built of local stone next to the River Coln. It is one of the most photographed areas in the region and was chosen as a location for the 2007 film ‘Stardust’. Close by you will find the Bibury Trout Farm and a Saxon Church. The River Coln flows between the main village street and a watermeadow: together with Alrington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picuresque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds.

Stop At: Arlington Row, Awkward Hill, Bibury GL7 5NJ England

It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Burford, Burford, Cotswolds, England

Burford – “Gateway to the Cotswolds”
Burford is known as the gateway to the Cotswolds. Its High Street slopes from the high Wolds, where you have beautiful views over the open countryside, down to the willow fringed River Windrush in the pretty Windrush valley.
Choose to visit Burford’s numerous small shops offering Cotswolds cheese, quality meats, freshly made cakes, antiques and books.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Bourton-on-the-Water, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cotswolds, England

Regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, Bourton-on -the-Water has a unique appeal to visitors and residents alike.
Known as the Venice of the Cotswolds, this one village offers a wealth of attractions and shops, restaurants and tea rooms, or simply the space for you to enjoy some tranquil time by the River Windrush, spanned by its five arched bridges.
Bourton-on-the-Water’s most prized feature is its tranquil river. Fed from many springs, its source is approximately ten miles from the village, and even in the 1976 drought the flow continued.
Where the river enters the village centre, over the rapids next to the Old Mill, its clear waters flow under a miscellany of arched stone bridges past the green with its banks of Cotswold stone.

Me and my mother did the small group tour of the Cotswolds villages (Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury and Arlington). It was a beautiful tour and very well organised. We travelled very comfortably, driven by Nathan who is such a skilled driver! And I absolutely loved listening to Angela’s(our guide) stories. I let them know about my autism in advance and they handled it well, very thankful for that. I would absolutely recommend Evan Evans Tours and also this particular trip! We look forward to booking other tours with them in the future!

Robert and Mentor were great! Robert was full of knowledge about the Cotswolds and London in general. Mentor was an excellent driver and was able to maneuver us safely out of a tricky closed road situation!

We had a wonderful day despite the rainy weather. It did not deter at all from the tour. The villages are so quaint and picturesque that the tour would be good in any weather. The only negative was that the bus was a bit too small for the number of people, it was fully booked and there was nowhere to move. I was seated next to a large person who took up more room than a not so large person, so it felt a bit cramped.

We did a day-long tour of the Cotswolds in April. Our driver, Len, was fabulous -- knowledgeable, fun, witty, took the time to stop for photos of some great views, took us along some tiny, one-lane backroads, showed us the doorway that inspired J.R. Tolkien's writing of The Hobbit. We visited four tiny towns in the Cotswolds, had time to explore each, and had time for lunch in Bourton-on-the-Water. The meeting place location was easy to find. Definitely a day well-spent!

STAY AWAY. Left late. Unclear why. 6 of 9 hours on the bus. Worthless guide. Driver ignored detour sign, wasted time.

All around nice trip. Three separate villages .. all a bit different and gave a good taste of the cotswolds. The tour guide Sheila was very knowledgeable not only about the cotswolds but also about London itself as we were heading out of the city. She was well able to answer questions and did so cheerfully. Highly recommend this trip for a pleasant day out of London !

Lovely little villages providing a glimpse into what seems to have been a simpler, quieter time. The world could use some of that quiet now...
