This was such a superbly organised day trip. Received a text message the day before the trip to confirm pick up time from my hotel (6am - yikes!) and the minivan arrived on the dot. Seamless transfer and journey to Auschwitz, followed by an excellent and most knowledgeable guide who spoke with passion about her subject. As you can imagine, the experience was moving and harrowing but unforgettable. Then on a short coach ride to Birkenau where the same guide outlined the key points of note. We had a 40 minute pit stop for a plentiful lunch which lasted me into the evening and then around an hour and 20 minutes to get to the salt mines, during which time many of us had a nap on account of our very early start. The salt mines were fascinating and our guide there was, again, very engaging and full of knowledge. There are around 53 flights of steps down to get to the first level and it’s a little bit tight so beware if you’re claustrophobic! 2.5 hours at the mines and then a seamless 30 minute coach ride back to the hotel. Perfect!

This tour was so well organised and we saw so much in just one day. Our Mr Shuttle driver (Dom?) was a friendly, happy, very competent young man who looked after us so well. At each location, we were handed over to a knowledgeable local guide. Learning about what happened at Auschwitz was confronting, so it was good that we were able to finish off our tour with a visit to the more uplifting Wieliczka Salt Mine with its magnificent chapels and beautiful sculptures. Our packed lunch was generous, and delicous. We had an early start with a 6.45am pick-up, and were back at our accommodation by 6pm. Highly recommend this tour.

It was a memorable day. We had a short amount of time, so I'm happy that we selected both activities. Of course it is difficult to fit everything in, but the driver and the tour guides were fantastic. The downside is that I'm gluten intolerant. I noted this, but they only gave me a container of lettuce and a few vegetables with a side of two apples. It was not nearly enough, I ended up purchasing my own lunch from the cafe.
