Enjoy a wonderful flight of 11 wines in a 200-year-old cottage - by the fire, in the history room or on the deck overlooking the river. A cheese platter with local hard and soft cheese is the perfect accompaniment for the tastings and also a great light lunch. The service and information we receive from the welcoming staff, and owners and makers are just as lovely as the wine and cheese.

Our tour guide Sam is so passionate about local producers and this was evident in the whole tour. He gave us a bit of history about each location and what we were going to experience. Great day out and fun for everyone on the tour. I liked the fact that it is a small group (11) of us from Australia and overseas and we got to chat and enjoy a few laughs along the way.

Sam was very knowledgeable, and personable. Nothing was too much trouble.
The venues were all great and the operators were extremely passionate about what they are doing.
Highly recommend this tour for a great day.

Great day with our guide Sam, from The Derwent Experience; from the New Norfolk Distillery where we sampled a variety of rums, gins and liqueurs, then a visit to Salmon Ponds, the oldest trout and salmon hatchery in the southern hemisphere where we enjoyed plump Tassie cherries and a soft sparkling wine, to a tasty cheese platter and selection of 6 wines at Stefano Lubiana estate, a sixth generation of family farmers. We then visited Richmond (quaint country town) and walked the oldest working stone bridge in Australia (built by convicts in 1823), then experienced the distillery flavours at the Charles Reuben estate who also produce three wines and we loved their Riesling and finished with a paddle of craft beers at the Last Rites Brewing Company (ps: only open on Fridays at this time). There was also little bits in between that added to the experience (like good local coffee to start the day, antiques and shops) plus Sam has good local knowledge, is friendly, easy, and great company. So totally recommend ; an unforgettable day… you must do it!

Sam was awesome, best tour guide. The 30 drinks doesn’t lie, I’ve never drunk so many drinks on a tour. We got to take our time coming back so it was a great full day out or tasting Tasmania.

The Derwent Experience was a beautiful first exposure to the diverse offerings and picturesque setting in an around Hobart.
Without spoiling what you'll see, you'll enjoy some amazing coffee, some unique takes on beers/ales, wines and spirits to go with wonderful local nibbles along the way. Our driver Graham was always sharing little tidbits and history about Hobart and the locations along the way, including recommendations and markets to check out after the tour while in town.
Highly recommend, for groups small and large.
