Depart from the old harbour in Volendam on your super cool E-fatbike to explore multiple villages. Along the route you will see a beautiful windmill, lots of meadows, a countless number of cows and sheeps and you will cross the famous Dutch dikes. The one time you will be cruising on top of the dike, so you can see (and even dive into!) the lake, the 'Gouwzee'. The other time you are riding meters below sea level along the dike to experience how the Dutch locals live behind the dikes.
From Volendam you can either choose or be advised which villages you would like to visit with your E-fatbike. Within one hour you can perfectly visit Edam, a almost 800 year old town north of Volendam. Edam is famous for its peaceful narrow alleys and small canals, the beautiful façades of the cozy houses and the unique small boutiques. Also Edam is known for its cheese market where visitors can both taste and purchase a various number of cheeses.
Also another town, which is called Monnickendam can be visited in only one hour of time. When walking or cruising around in the old center of Monnickendam it will feel like you went back in time. Along the streets you will see the beautiful houses made of light bronze bricks. Also the old harbour with its pretty ships and charming terraces is definitely worth a visit. An absolute highlight in Monnickendam is the beer brewery, where you can see where and how the beer is brewed, where you can taste the homemade sausages and enjoy the lovely terrace along the water.
When you have more time to spend it is highly advised to make a tour from Volendam to Monnickendam and from Monnickendam to the former island Marken. Marken is a stunning town with lovely bridges over the small canals and really nice wooden façades. As the island can only be reached by the 10 kilometer long dike, the small town is surrounded by water where it becomes really clear again how the Dutch are dealing with living below sealevel. From Marken it is possible to take the boat back to Volendam. The Volendam-Marken Express is departing each 30 minutes from Marken to Volendam and it is possible to bring your E-fatbike on the ship for a small fee. After a 30 minutes cruise you will be back in Volendam where you can drive underneath the dike back to the rental company to bring back your E-fatbike.

Driving on an E-fatbike is allowed without being in the possession of a driving licence. You must be at least 1m55 tall to do so.
When renting an E-fatbike a deposit of €50,- will be asked, which will be returned to you after giving back the (undamaged) E-fatbike

I went there with my girlfriend. We rented a E-fatbike. It was very fun to ride with the bike, you can ride very fast without doing much pedaling. We also saw beautiful scenery.
At the end our bike ride we went to make pictures of us in traditional Volendam clothes. The pictures turned out amazing.
All in all a nice activity to do while you are in Volendam.

Wanted to visit something representative in the Netherlands and volendam was perfect, was able to enjoy the town on a fat e bike that looked bad ass and works perfectly. The staff was super nice with me :)

E-Fatbike gehuurd. Mooie ervaring, fietst heel licht. Van te voren een goede uitleg gehad . Kregen ook een goede fietsroute geadviseerd. Verder ook wat weetjes over Volendam en omgeving mooi verteld door Pieter.

Les personnes sont très sympathiques et conviviales !
Visite d'une fromagerie avec les explication de fabrication, une dégustation de quelques fromages et une remise dans la boutique
Prenez un petit bonnet ou un cache oreille il y a énormément de vent notamment pour rejoindre la presque ile de marken 😉

Ik heb samen met 5 andere vriendinnen de E-fatbike geboekt voor 4 uur via de website. We kwamen iets te laat aan maar de fatbikes stonden al klaar voor ons. We moesten alleen wat persoonlijke informatie achterlaten en een borgsom en toen konden we al gaan rijden! We zijn eerst naar Edam gereden wat echt een heel erg mooi stadje is. Hier hebben we op aanraden van het personeel van Rent & Event de allerlekkerste appeltaart gegeten bij een leuk restaurantje en zijn we door gereden naar het volgende dorpje Monnickendam. Monnickendam heeft echt een prachtig oud centrum en haventje en we konden het niet laten om op een volgend terrasje neer te strijken voor de lunch. Hierna zijn we door naar Marken gereden. We hadden onderweg bij 1 van de fietsen dat de trapper wat los is gaan zitten maar we konden tussen Marken en Volendam in de fiets na laten kijken bij een andere winkel van Rent & Event (in Uitdam). Na 5 minuten konden we weer door, wat een service! Na de vuurtoren op Marken zijn we weer helemaal terug gefietst.
De fatbikes zijn echt geweldig. Ondanks dat het wel echt een fiets is hoef je eigenlijk nauwelijks te trappen om keihard vooruit te gaan. Wat een snelheid en gemak! We vonden het echt super tof en zullen het zeker nog een keer gaan doen!
