This tour was a highlight of our trip! Maykol owns the farm and he is knowledgeable, friendly, and energetic. The farm is nestled in a residential area, so you might think there’s not much to it. But, wow, we leaned so much about the Antigua ecosystem, coffee production, and farming. We got to make our own tortillas and guacamole (using avocados from the farm) and taste coffee from the farm. We even got to process some coffee beans ourselves. We tasted honey from the farm and learned how the bees complete the farming cycle on the farm. Maykol is passionate and has a vision for the farm and it’s pretty exciting. For my kids (ages 15 and 17) and I this is a must see!

We chose this tour for the experiences for our grandsons, ages 10 and 12. We all learned about coffee, the trees, the stages, the process, roasting. Then we moved to the avocado trees, the boys got to make their own tortillas, followed by making their own guacamole to put on their fresh, hot tortillas. Yum! Then worm composting, worm fertilizer followed by manure/ fly maggots to feed the chickens, who loved their protein food. A quick lesson in a new hive-friendly honey collection technique from australia. In sum, an experience-based personalized tour fit for adults but especially for children by a very personable otivated organic farmer.

Highly recommend! My husband and I were picked up at Casa de Jade promptly and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with Maykol on his farm. He is intensely passionate about organic farming and creating opportunities for his community. This was a very personalized experience and the conversation (he is fluent in English) informative and educational.

What an exceptional experience. Mykol is a visionary. What he has accomplished on 2 acres of land in a relatively short period of time is extraordinary. Visiting his oasis while drinking his coffee, tasting his avocados and honey was a highlight of Antigua. I highly recommend this experience.

I visited the Little Green Farm and I was very impressed to see the results of years of hard work that Maykol has spent preparing the soil of the farm. He has also spent years of schooling in the United States to become an agronomist, which makes him one of the most passionate agricultural engineers in Antigua. The first thing you see at the farm are the coffee trees which stand against a beautiful backdrop of a volcano, what an impressive view! You also get to see, taste and learn the meticulous process of growing and producing coffee beans. You get to have the experience of making your own tortillas and cooking them on a hot comal (griddle) which is exciting! When I took my first bite of my hot tortilla with the buttery tasty avocados, it was so satisfying. Learning about the bees and the best way to make compost and fertilizer was very informative and fun!
