The Collection is housed in the Prince of Savoy’s former palace; you definitely get a sense as to the grander but you don’t see the furnishings. You do get to see a diverse collection of world class art. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance via their website so you don’t have to wait in any long lines. I also recommend the audio guide- great background info about the palace and the art. The real star of the show though is the gardens - they are lovely.

The art work in the Palace is great. It is a little difficult to find the Palace, so make sure you have a plan to get there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Belvedere. Important for you to book online to get a time slot as the allocations sell out most days. The art collection is fabulous, including famous works by van Gogh, Klimt, Monet, David, and others. The gardens are fabulous and can be accessed for free without touring the palace museum.

I thoroughly enjoyed this visit to Upper Belvedere. We went early on the morning before the crowds. Got a good view of all the paintings & finished it with morning tea I the Cafe. Perfect. Although our QR code tickets were questioned again, as with most places.

The Palace is beautiful inside and out, as were the gardens and grounds, even in winter. A dusting of snow enhanced the small but nice Christmas market on the grounds. The Klimt exhibits were beautiful. The paintings are much richer and more colorful in person and the collection lends an appreciation well beyond "The Kiss."

Although this is a fine gallery, it is a hellhole to go through. People moving in all directions and apparently blind to the existence of others. The worst is the ticketing. They suggest buying tickets online, then when you do it turns out to be a third party selling some. After buying the tickets the third party requires an app to get the tickets. I had no room on my phone for another app. So I used a screenshot. They would not accept it a Belvedere rudely claiming that they aren't respnsible, that I need to contact the third party, which I couldn't. So Belvedere contracts with a third party to sell their tickets and they aren't responsible? They can't honor them? They can't check? These people aren't capable and things would work a lot more smoothly if they find some people who are. They will make sure your backpack has to be in front but can't do anything about hordes of kids pouring into each room so that no one can enjoy anything.

Visited the museum and was amazed by the place. We got advised to take a chronological route, and really enjoyed our time. We sadly skipped a part of the museum, but that's only an extra reason to come back.

This place has been on my list for a while. We finally made it this trip! So if you are a person who likes rich, regal or opulent palace interiors this is NOT the place for you. This is a museum and it is full of pictures (Gustav Klimt) and some sculptures. I think there may be 6 rooms total that look as they did when Prince Eugen actually lived here and they are without furniture. So enjoy the works by Klimt and others as you navigate among the tourists and there were many. The gardens are beautiful and extensive. So we purchased the upper/lower ticket with everything included except the 21 thing which was contemporary art (not our thing). The ticket included the upper and lower Belvedere, the orangery and the stables. The upper has the more notable works by famous artists, the lower had an exhibition from Ukraine, the stables had iconography and the orangery had artists that were part of some movement in Vienna. Was a great visit but I would have loved to have seen a couple of perior rooms with the decor. So if ya are after that just go to Schonbrunn instead.

The gardens were breathtaking, the palace was beautiful. I believe its the tourism season, so the rooms were quiet packed with people. I propose setting a certain number of visitors per visit, so, everyone could enjoy the tour, paintings and details of the rooms

It’s lovely when a famous piece of art lives up to the hype surrounding it and Klimt’s Kiss more than does - I was entranced.
