This family river rafting tour is on the famous Kicking Horse River, located approximately 1.25 hours west of Banff. The Kicking Horse is one of Canada's premier destinations for fun, sun and river rapids! We operate all of your rafting trips on this stretch of river. The Family Rafting Adventure rafts the gentle upper canyon.

This is our raft base and where all the action starts. Have some little adventurers and want a gentle raft trip? The Family Whitewater Adventure is perfect for families seeking a calmer river experience. Starting from our private river base, enjoy a serene float down the Kicking Horse River. Marvel at the scenery, lookout for wildlife and enjoy some commentary from our friendly guides. Then, it’s onto some whitewater! Get a taste of the rapids, enjoy the splashes from class 1-3 waves and maybe even share in a rival raft water fight. At trips end, back in dry clothes, check out your group rafting shots in our lodge and maybe pick up a souvenir of your day.

My buddy and I booked a last minute ride with them and it ended up being the highlight of our trip. We had Drew as a guide and he was absolutely amazing. Made everyone in our raft feel very comfortable and we had an excellent time. Would recommend to any one looking for a different type of activity in the mountains.

Went rafting on 6 August as a family of 4 and this was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip. Very well organised, very thorough safety briefing and lovely staff. Our guide, Dave was knowledgeable, interesting and expertly guided us through the rapids. It was so much fun! We all loved it! Thoroughly recommend.

The Hydra river guides was a well run trip. We ordered the lunch, which was a great add-on. Our tour guide, Vern was excellent as he kept us safe and ensured a good time. We saw great scenery while having a blast in the raft.

Great experience for anyone wanting to try whitewater rafting! Guides are fun and knowledgeable. A surprise waterfall hike was included. Rapids are not aggressive so if you’re feeling unsure about trying it this is the ride for you. Great for kids of all ages for a first experience.

Took a punt on this as I wanted to do white water rafting while in Banff/Jasper. Best decision ever to go with Hydra, great drive (1hr 20) from Banff past the Spiral Tunnels and check out the Takkakaw Waterfall, just 20 mins past Field, well signposted onto gravel roads. Don’t stress, get there 30 mins before your time, sign in is quick and easy. You get changed into your rafting gear, put all your stuff in the car, lock it and put the keys in cupboard on site which gets locked until you are back. Take a GoPro but if you lose it it’s on you. Quick and useful safety brief and your off. The company takes fun pre-rafting pics and also during your trip near the end. Buy them $30 and they send you a file share link. There is a guide on each boat and max 8 punters. Guides are good, involve everyone, know every inch of the river and can put the boat wherever they want. We had Cam, a Kiwi and great fun, slightly overconfident about the AB’s chances at the RWC. The first 10 mins is quiet and flat and everyone gets to know everyone, it soon hots up with rapid after rapid. You will get wet, you will need to hang on but the guide makes sure everyone is comfortable. We all tipped in for a swim at one stage. 2 hrs on the river, 17km rafted, 15 min bus transfer back to the base. Book Hydra, you won’t regret it.

What a great day! We white water rafted with Jaro on the Kicking horse river. A ton of fun. Beautiful scenery and a fun trip. The water is 3C /37F in June. Everyone wears wetsuits but that was an exhilarating jump into the water at the end of the trip! Bring your own towel. They rent towels for $3 if you need them. The staff were all very nice.

We booked the family rafting trip as our family included my mother who is in her early 70's and my sister who has DS. Prior to our visit i made some initial online enquires and the team were great at answering all my questions and within a good time scale. On arrival we were greeted by the ladies at check in who were helpful, friendly and explained what would happen. Both my sister and mum were apprehensive especailly during the safety talk (which is always worse case scenarory) however we got suited up and one of the instructors (Bill) bounced over to my sister as could see her nerves and really hyped her up to go rafting, all her worries soon disappeard. After a few photo's were taken by the team we headed to the water with our guide Vern. His experience was clear from the moment we entered the water. His manner was very calm throughout. He talked us through what we needed to do whilst telling us stories of the area and the river. We can not thank the team at Hydra enough for making our 1st rafting experience so much fun and most importantly a safe trip. Would recommend this trip. And thanks for the photos.

Amazing experience - signed up with my mum, dad, brother and husband. We all had a great time, Bill (our instructor) made sure we felt super comfortable and safe. All in all fab experience, and would love to do it again. An absolute must do while in Golden, or even when just passing through as we did.
