Stop At: Centro Historico de Sintra, Sintra 2710-616 Portugal

The enchanted village of… Sintra a small village but with a great concentration of historical monuments and interesting tourist attractions, in Sintra there are more than 10 national monuments, including opulent palaces, ancient ruins and decorative palatial houses dispersed by the hills of the region, challenging walking paths.

Knowing its historical center, especially Piriquita, ( one of the attractions in Sintra ), with typical sweets that make us dream, especially on the cooler days typical of the microclimate of Sintra

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Park and National Palace of Pena, Estrada da Pena, Sintra 2710-609 Portugal

As we mentioned in the last paragraph, Sintra is very rich in Palaces, the choice of the palace or palaces to visit is exclusively yours, the guide will give you information about all of them and together you will decide the most suitable one ( s) for you, in a wide choice from the Romantic Pena Palace, to the Morrish Castle , the Masonic Regaleira, or why not to the Portuguese Versailles the choice is exclusive yours ( entrances not include ).

Stop At: Estrada Cabo da Roca, Colares 2705-001 Portugal

Cabo de Roca is the most western point in Europe, where the Earth ends and the sea begins as Luís de Camões wrote (in Os Lusíadas, Canto VIII), the Lighthouse, 165 meters high and dated 1772, here we understand the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean revealing to us one of the most emblematic places of Portugal.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Boca do Inferno, Av. Rei Humberto II de Italia 642, Cascais 2750-642 Portugal

The “Mouth of Hell” name attributed to this place is due to the morphological analogy and to the tremendous and frightening impact of the waves there, the characteristic that makes up the rock in the cliff is of a carbonated nature.

The erosion exerted by the action of rainwater which, containing dissolved carbon dioxide, causes the carbonate to dissolve.

Through this process cavities and caves are formed inside the limestones, with a downfall of the upper layers the cave has been destroyed, leaving a large cavity in the open, this place with unique characteristics, is a place of leisure, where you can enjoy a divine landscape and magnificent sunsets, being only overshadowed by not infrequent suicides committed on its dangerous and unprotected cliff.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Marina de Cascais, Casa de S. Bernardo, Cascais 2750-800 Portugal

Time now to explore Cascais with a wide beach and very picturesque streets make the town a place very visited by tourists, a mixture of fishing village with a luxury resorth with many restaurants serving fresh fish.

Between the bay and the Sintra mountain range, Cascais was in the 19th century, the place chosen by the royal family for vacations that ended up dragging the nobility, in Largo de Camoes, in the historic center, are plenty of shops and restaurants.

We used Walkborder tours for a 10 day trip through the country. Together with Hugo we outlined a trip that took us from the north ( Porto) down to The Algarve region, and much in between. Hugo was very patient as we had a lot of email exchange back and forth during the planning of the trip. I provided a rough outline of what we wanted to do in the amount of time we had available, and Hugo made it work. Our guide was Pedro C. who clearly has a great love for his country and that was demonstrated many times over the course of the tour. He also navigated the streets/hills of Lisbon like a pro! He was receptive when we needed to slow the pace down, and have a more relaxing day once we arrived in Albufiera (Algarve). Overall, it was a wonderful trip and well organized.

The tour was excellent. We visited the Palace of Pena and Quinta de Regaleira. We also stopped by Cascais, Estoril, and Cabo da Rica. The views were spectacular. Ruben, our driver and guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and very complacent. He explained everything in detail and answered all our questions. We highly recommend this tour. Walkborder is a very professional and reliable company. Thank you .

We stayed in Lisbon and then Sintra. We had arranged in advance through Hugo Walkborder Tours CEO for Pedro to drive us between the two places with our luggage so we did not miss a day of seeing Portugal through transit. Pedro was fantastic. He had to get up at 630am to come and get us on time from central Lisbon at 9am. He arrived in a very nice Mercedes car - thank you Hugo! On our trip he took us over the 25th de Abril bridge and to the Sanctuary of Christ the King, at opening time and got out of the car walked with us pointing out items of interest and taking photos of us. What we really appreciated was that he pointed out a small dot on the hills in the distance that was Pena Palace in Sintra. He then took us to Quelez Castle dropped us at the door, we paid and went in and then after parking the car Pedro also came into the castle and acted as a personal tour guide. He then took us to the Moorish Castle and let us go around that on our own. While we were in the Moorish Castle he telephoned our airbnb owner and confirmed our arrival time and destination - which was not very easy to locate. He then drove us to the airbnb and carried our bags down the stairs to our front door. We also had booked this full day private tour which for us was Cascais, Estoril and Cabo da Roca. Again Pedro (who lives in Sintra) turned up in Hugo's Mercedes on time and took us via a scenic route through the hills to Cabo Da Roca. He then drove us along the coast part-way to Cascais and let us walk some of the rest of the way. He would drive past us occasionally to make sure we were ok. He then drove us into Cascais, let us wander around there for a while, then picked us up and drove us to a restaurant that was already full and got us a table overlooking the ocean. He then drove us around the area some more before returning us to our airbnb. At all times during our tours Pedro made sure we had sufficient bottles of drinking water for which we were very appreciative. Pedro also found out that for another tour we had booked we were supposed to go to the train station in Sintra to be picked up but our airbnb was in historic Sintra. He persuaded that tour operator to pick us up from our airbnb. When we went to Pena by ourselves we were able to see the 25th de Abril bridge and the Sanctuary of Christ the King memorial from there which was great. Finally although he was unable to drive us to the airport for our flight home as he had previous commitments he arranged for a friend of his Nelson to pick us up and take us to the airport - Nelson drove us in his Mercedes to the airport, parker in short-term parking and carried our bags to the check-in desk. More fantastic service. Throughout our time in Portugal the locals were so friendly and helpful, they are proud of their country and in people like Hugo, Nelson and Pedro they have got plenty to be proud about. Were it not for Pedro we would not have seen anywhere near as much of Portugal as we did. In summary we had the best service imaginable from Walkborder Tours. Thank you so much John and Chris

The vehicle Mercedes V van was quite comfortable. Most important, the driver cum guide Mr Alex played an excellent role by guiding us in a very friendly way. His sincere service made us feel at home. He took very good care by not only telling about different parts of Lisbon, but also by leading to a very good Indian restaurant. Hugo’s commitment was absolutely to the point punctually and sincerely. Thank you Hugo and Alex for making our tour a pleasant one.

With Alex as our guide we took an extremely comfortable ride to sintra and beyond. He is very experienced and knowledgeable as he is from the area. We learned a great deal and it was at a wonderful pace. We did not feel hurried yet we moved along such that we got many sites in for the day. Lunch was excellent and we topped it off with a gelato experience for the ride back to Lisbon. A+++

Highly recommend this tour!! We did a private tour with Reuben. He was highly knowledgeable about the area, points of interest and the history of Portugal. He was also super flexible and gave us the choice of what we wanted to see and do, as well as where and when we wanted to stop and eat. Altogether a fantastic way to experience some of the most beautiful parts of Portugal with a fantastic driver. 10/10 would do this again

Phenomenal day exploring the beautiful area of Sintra and Cascais. Pedro was a gracious, kind and extremely knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed every minute and would not wanted to have taken the tour without him. We highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to have Pedro it will be worth every penny!

Communications were excellent - make sure to read and reply to messages from tour operator because you have to buy your entrance tickets depending on which palaces you want to visit. We went with a 9:30 Pena entry (if you are in relatively good shape, don’t purchase the transportation - there was a long line for the small shuttle bus; it was faster for us to walk up the hill) and Quinta da Regaleira. Pedro picked us up on time in a meticulous Mercedes sedan. He was an excellent conversationalist and driver. Shared a lot of history of the region and knowledge of the Pena Palace, as he guided us through it. We were on our own at Regaleira, which was fine. There is a lot to see outside of the palace and it’s better going at your own pace, exploring the grounds. The drive along the coast was beautiful - stopping at Cabo da Roca and Cascais. We had time for photos in front of the casino at the end. The palaces and natural beauty were amazing, and Pedro made the whole experience even better with his friendly, jovial personality.
