A long day, leaving Cusco at 4.40am. Juan, our driver, picked us up, bang on time. About a 90 minute drive, dodging the massive pot holes on the way. No wonder the Incas chose to walk! The vista dome train ride was superb, and on arriving in Aguascalientes, our guide Uriel was waiting, as promised, and took us on the bus and into the Macchu Pichu site. He was so passionate and knowledgeable, he told us how lucky we were to have such wonderful weather that day. He was the perfect host, teaching us about the original cechua culture and telling us how the citadel was built, and the people who lived there. Truly, one of the best days of our lives!

The tour started with an early van pick up dropping us off at the train station. The train ride was scenic and pleasant. After getting off we took a bus up the mountain to Machu Picchu spending several hours on the site enjoying the history and view. Our guide Ruth was very nice, informative and nice enough to take a few pictures. I would definitely suggest

After a last minute let down by another tour company we booked the Get Your Guide recommended top rated Full Day tour to Machu Picchu by AndresTopTours. Thankfully it was a great choice ! From the minute we booked there was regular and clear communication. Waiting for us at our hotel was a full package of tickets and the instructions on how to meet our transportation the next morning. At every transition point during the long journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu, AndesTopTours had clear signage to guide us. The best part though was our guide Lenin Ttupa who meet us at the train stop near the base of Machu Picchu. From the moment our group met him he was a very friendly, very organized and very helpful host. Once on top of the site it was clear he was also very knowledgeable about the history of it (and the Inca). And he explained it in an interesting, respectful and clear manner. What was special too was how he tied today’s mixture of cultures in Peru and Cusco together back to the Inca time and culture. Lenin made our day here at this wondrous, sacred site so special. We can’t thank him enough for making a memory of a lifetime for us.

Our guide was Uriel, he was fantastic! He did a great job of pulling our group to open spaces away from the crowds to talk about the history and scenery of Machu Picchu. Felt very special to have a guide with a strong personal connection to Machu Picchu. He was very kind and knowledgeable and as an added bonus an incredible photographer! We had plenty of time to see and experience it all and never felt rushed, spent about 2.5 hours up at the site.
