First off. Don't let this review stop you from trying other tours. Thailand is one of the most beautiful countries I have been to. These tours are an affordable, great way to see the island and experience the culture. However, I was under the impression this was to be an intimate, island hopping/ snorkeling tour. It was neither. We got picked up an hour late with no updates from the tour company. I had to call them myself. It was supposed to be a small group of 12 people. When we arrived we were taken to a boat filled to capacity with 42 people (not counting captain and crew). The first location was a money grab. We could not go snorkeling if we didn’t pay an additional 300 baht per person for a private boat that took you 30 feet away. If you didn’t pay for the upgrade, you were expected to wait on a hot large tour boat. We were allowed to get into the water 15 minutes before leaving, but in an undesirable area with no fish. We only spent maybe 5 minutes at the Viking cave but the closest we came was a quarter mile away so the view was obscured by boats the entire time. Our boat never went closer. Then we went to a beach where you could not even get in the water. Not ideal for a snorkeling tour. It was basically a tourist trap with nothing to do but buy food or souvenirs. The lunch stop was the highlight but the swimming was pitiful and we didn’t even bother. We had 15 minutes at monkey island. They backed the boat up onto the beach however when it was time to leave they would not pull the boat in and we had to wade in chest deep water with jagged rocks and fissures. Several people got injured. We finally got taken to a good snorkeling location with a lot of wildlife but by that time, the sun was going down and the visibility was poor. Also the sea floor was infested with urchins. At no time were we warned or instructed about the delicate nature of the reef nor the dangers of the wildlife. As a regular diver I’m aware of the hazards but most of the visitors were novices. People where injured there as well. They did not have a first aid kit on the boat. They also did not have vinegar for jellyfish let alone mention them. Our tour guide said we where going to cat island which was incorrect. It was a different island and that’s fine, the island was a tourist bar resort and after the day we had, the entire boat was looking forward to a drink… which we never got because the captain ran us on the rocks, destroying the engines and setting us adrift a mile from shore. I wish I was joking. We watched other tours enjoying the end of their day as we waited for almost an hour to get rescued by another boat to take us back to Phuket , missing our last stop. The whole tour felt rushed as we didn’t get to spend the time on each island that was in the itinerary. Instead, out of the ten hours we spent six on a crammed boat. To top it off our tour guide was rude, passive aggressive and would make fun of passengers that had legitimate complaints or concerns. I have been on four tours in Phuket and many around the world, so far all have been great. This was the worst tour of my life.
