This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Beluga Point, Mile 110, Seward Hwy Mile 110 Seward Hwy, Anchorage, AK 99516

Beluga Point is one of the scheduled stops. We will have narration about the area, its geology, unique features and history of the area. Guests will have time to take photos.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Seward Highway, AK

The drive from Anchorage to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center/Portage Glacier Area begins with spectacular views as you pass between the dramatic shorelines of Turnagain Arm and the jutting peaks of the Chugach Mountains. The Seward Highway is considered to be one of the most scenic highways in the US.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, 43520 Seward Highway, Girdwood, Anchorage, AK 99587

At the 200-acre Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, jaws drop in awe-even those of longtime Alaskans who've studied grizzlies and other animals up close. AWCC's mission is to preserve Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, research, education and quality animal care. The center, which opened to the public in 1993, also educates visitors about Alaska's wildlife. Coyotes peer out from behind the brush while a bald eagle swoops in on the salmon remains left by a grizzly bear. Wood Bison plod through 65 acres of tidal flat terrain, as part of a program that will one day restore the species to the Alaskan wilderness. Animals that cannot be released into the wild are given a permanent home at the center. Come be a part of these exciting programs and watch these animals display their natural, “wild”, behavior.

You will have about 90 minutes here to view these animals. There is coffee and food for purchase from vendors at the Center.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Portage Glacier, Portage Lake Loop, Girdwood, Anchorage, AK

Portage Glacier Cruise is one hour from Anchorage. This cruise will take you right up to the face of a glacier. You’ll board the comfortable MV Ptarmigan, featuring an enclosed, heated cabin and open-air observation deck. The hour-long cruise is narrated by the US Forest Service, and you’ll navigate around bobbing icebergs and motor to within 300 feet of the towering wall of ice called Portage Glacier (one of Alaska’s most popular attractions). You may have an opportunity to hear the unmistakable rumbling of a calving glacier or rolling iceberg.

After the 1 hour cruise, you will have an opportunity to eat lunch at a nearby restaurant. Lunch is not included.

We took a train ride, and the Glacier Cruise/Wildlife Tour with Phil. I regret neither tour, as they were both informative, but Phil really took the time to point out things that we had not been able to see previously. He was excellent, and the tour is well worth the money!

Am amazing day spent touring the glaciers and the wildlife around Anchorage. And it was made so much more enjoyable and informative thanks to our wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly guide Phil. Phil was the kind of perfect tour guide you would wish for; he shared so much information and went out of his way to make the experience enjoyable and informative for us. Thank you Phil.

I actually did not make it on the Tour. When I tried to book thru Tripadvisor and thru the provider's website, they both said that the minimum persons I can book is 2... but according to the sites, there were only 3 seats left. I left a message with them on their web page and Albert responded back saying he will get back to me about this issue and will book it manually for me. He never got back to me and no one responded back to my chats and emails. Luckily for me, I was able to book a similar tour with another provider.

Matt the driver/guide was awesome. Great knowledge of wildlife and living in Alaska. Great pit stop at the microbrewery with nearby food trucks for lunch.

We took 2 tours with Planet Earth Tours; Glacier & Wildlife Discovery Tour and the Day in Seward & Kenai Fjords National Park. Both tours were amazing. We had Phil and Matt as our tour guides, respectively, and they were both friendly, informative and exceptional. Major Marine Tours was the partner for the boat portion of the tour. Experienced captain, Nicole, and fantastic crew. We saw 19-20 humpback whales feeding together. The owner, Albert, courteously picked us up in Anchorage after returning on the Alaska Railroad. All around amazing experience with great people. We would highly recommend.

Phil was our tour guy for the day. He was fabulous! He shared wonderful insight about the local area as we drove to the various stops on our tour. And loved it was a small group…total of 5! Tour was a total 7+ hours and definitely felt like we got our money’s worth with the many stops. Highly recommend.

Can’t imagine a better way to start a trip in Alaska. Philip our guide was excellent. His knowledge of terrain, glaciers, plants, animal habitat and habits was impressive. Very thoughtful and careful too. Pace and itinerary was really good. He explains things very clearly. We’d do again!

My wife and I were only members on tour. Matt was a great guide and his personality fit perfect with ours. Drizzly weather made the experience even better. We recommend giving this group a try!
