This was an absolutely amazing experience! Britt was so knowledgeable and patient with us. We had zero glass blowing background and this was our first time near anything like this. We got a great introduction to the basics of glass blowing with an emphasis on safety, and left with a better understanding of a hobby I’ve always wanted to try. Britt allowed us to “play” with a glob of hot glass before we actually attempted to make our take home piece, and I thought that was really nice of her. It helped us get used to the tools, the movements, and also helped take the nerves and anxiety away when starting on your take home piece. When creating your take home piece, Britt is there to assist in any way and answer any questions you have. I truly felt like I created the majority of my glass piece, which was an awesome feeling. She steps in when needed but stands back when you have it. Lastly, she has an amazing studio filled with her and her student’s work - which is wild. You are able to purchase select pieces she has on display as well! All around, 10/10 experience and would highly recommend for anyone thinking about it! Thanks, Britt!

Brit was our instructor. She was engaging and answered a myriad of questions from the basics to the coefficient of expansion. It was fascinating. We enjoyed the experience and being able to be the 'designer' of our piece. The next time we are in the area, we will do this again. Thanks to Brit for an unforgettable afternoon.

We took the Glass Furnace class with Brit as our instructor. The class and Brit was fun, informative and inspiring. Brit’s easy flow of teaching combined with her extensive experience in working with glass allowed us to easily learn and be creative in making a beautiful and treasured piece of art. Highly recommend Gilbert’s Glassworks.

Brit, our instructor, was absolutely amazing! 10 stars out of 10! She was very patient and such an encourager! We learned so much about glass work and it was a very safe environment. Brit pulled the molten glass (2000 plus degrees) and taught us each step of making a beautiful glass vase. We chose a vase, but you can choose from many items that can be made during the class. We learned all the basic terms during the class. For example, Marver (large flat table used to roll the glass across its surface to shape it), Annealing (the process of slowly cooling a blown or cast object to prevent cracking) and Punty (a solid metal rod, around 5 feet long, used to hold an object being blown or hot-worked) just to name a few! When we pick up our vases from the shop, we will include a photo. They had to go through the annealing process! We will definitely return for another class! Thank you Brit and Russ!!!
