Itinerary

We will start off hiking and scrambling through the intriguing Valley of the Goblins that was featured in the film Galaxy Quest. Along the way, you will learn about the area’s unique geological, biological, historical, and cultural wonders. Your guide will also provide basic safety information, along with an introduction to the basics canyoneering before entering a beautiful slot canyon that disappears into a dark and mysterious chasm. Here, we’ll put on our canyoneering gear and rappel into the Goblin’s Lair which is also known as the Chamber of the Basilisk due to its resemblance to the interior of a medieval Gothic church. The landscapes are truly breathtaking and out of this world. While rappelling through the canyon, admire the sunbeams shining through to the canyon floor from the natural skylights above.

Once inside the Goblin’s Lair, we will enjoy a snack and explore the Lair’s hidden passages in search of the mysterious goblins. Once you’ve toured the Goblin’s Lair, we’ll catch a glimpse of the magnificent open landscape views towards Robbers Roost. This stunning vantage point is bound to impress you while you catch your breath before a quick hike back to the trailhead.

Can’t recommend ‘Get in the Wild’ enough! We had the best guide, Tyler, who was very knowledgeable about the geology and history of the area. We got super lucky and were the only 2 that signed up for this half day adventure so we had it all to ourselves (There were others on the trail, just not part of our adventure.) The only complaint we have is that it was way too short! I should have booked a full day! There’s always next time!

We had an amazing time. Tyler was our guide and he was very professional and made sure we all had a great time and that we were safe. This is by far the best way to see and experience Goblins Valley. We will definately be back for another guided tour.

Goblin's Lair was a unique setting, very different from other such treks. Austin is a great guide, as an instructor, interpreter, and leader. He brought our group together as teammates. I had a rich, rewarding, exciting time all around!

AMAZING experience repelling 95 ft into the Goblins Lair at Goblin Valley State Park with guide Tyler in November 2023 !! Our group of five (4 adults and one teen) had such a fun, memorable and wonderful time. Tyler is a phenomenal guide. We have done a lot of adventures over the years with different outfitters for different types of activities in several countries (Baja Mexico, Ireland, Kenya, Peru and lots in the US) — and Tyler is definitely in the top tier of guides we have ever worked with. We loved his detailed explanations of the geology and the history of the place. He was also fantastic at teaching and explaining repelling. He made us all feel super safe and comfortable, even though most of us had never repelled before. And, he has a delightful sense of humor, an easy laugh, and genuine kindness. We loved our tour with him and would love to do it again sometime. Thanks to Tyler and Get In the Wild for an amazing experience! 😊!

We chose the adventure repelling into Goblin’s Lair. Christopher was a great guide, sharing with us insights about the geology and surroundings. His presence and expertise provided a great comfort in leaning into the unknown. We will be back.

I had a great time out at Goblin Valley State Park ith In the WIld. I was looking for a unique way to see Utah's stunning canyons and this certainly fit the bill. I was staying in Moab, so I drove the 90 minutes out to this park, loved learning about the geologic history from our guide Tyler and seeing this wildly weird landscape. We hiked for a bit and then set up for a rappel into a huge cavern. Despite being with two people that were quite afraid of the rappel the guide handled it with expertise and encouragement and everyone made it safely to the inside of the cavern. I really enjoyed this adventure and only wish I had signed up for a longer one with more rappells.

This was an amazing trip, and our guide Tyler was terrific. He knew all about the geology, and had amazing outdoor experience. Make sure you ask him all about it, and set my family at ease for something that was fun yet new to them. (Canyoneering) This was well worth the trip to a remote location for beautiful scenery and a wonderful experience. We will definitely be doing some more get in the wild adventures.!
