We highly recommend Ehu & Kai Adventures. We booked the Historical Hawaiian Adventure and couldn't have asked for a better guide. Peter was friendly and knowledgable. He made sure we were relaxed, safe and enjoying our snorkeling experience.

Unfortunately the company canceled on us the night before due to permit issues. Told a refund was on the way, still have not seen the refund.

This was my favorite activity on my solo vacation, I absolutely loved it! Jamal was a great guide & the group was great too!! It was so peaceful just being on the water, it was early (8am), so it was super calm at that time. The best part was seeing the dolphins*, I cried when I saw them bc I was so excited 🐬 It got busy over by Capt Cook’s monument with all of the motor boats and snorkelers, but I could still see tons of fish just by looking over the side of the canoe bc the water was so clear! It was such an incredible experience, I can’t thank you enough 😊 *Sorry, I only have video of the dolphins, no pics 🐬

We had a really fun tour out to the Captain Cook Monument. Warning--you WILL paddle yourself! Loved the ride out; we got to see loads of spinner dolphins around, and stopped to look for rays on the ride back. My husband had never snorkeled before and the guide was very helpful with him. The snorkeling was great, and I was happy to get drinks and snacks on the way back. I also loved learning the history of the area. A really fun experience!

We had never snorkeled before. But our guide made learning super easy and we were quick to learn with guaranteed success of seeing the most amazing fish. Loved taking an outrigger canoe with a local guide with lots of traditional knowledge rather than a huge motorboat tourist trap which seems wrong and to defile such a beautiful spot, especially when you see how fragile the coral life is. Leave the booze cruise for a sunset excursion, slow down and respect this area with a canoe and local people who are fighting for and protecting this area.

Great tour to experience the ocean and snorkelling in a small group of 7 + 1 tour guide. Paddling was fun. Totally safe also for younger children.

We had a fantastic time on the outrigger tour with Manao. It was fun to paddle out to the monument, and he talked about the local history and Hawaiian culture/customs. He also knew where to go to see manta rays feeding in the bay! The snorkeling was beautiful with many different fish species, and starting at 8am meant we beat the crowds from the bigger boats coming from Kailua. My husband has back problems & isn't a strong swimmer so he was a little nervous to go out on the ocean. This is the perfect way to see the bay if you are not confident in the water. The canoes are very stable and he was still able to see fish and mantas from the boat/enjoy the scenery while feeling safe and chilling with the guide. Great local business, would recommend to anyone.

The entire experience was amazing and the person that took us out snorkeling was so knowledgeable and friendly. His demeanor definitely helped calm my wife and mine fear of swimming. Thank you so much for this experience. :)

We booked both the kayak rental and the Historical Hawaiian Adventure. Although the kayaking, which we did on our first day, was fun and pretty manageable for two parents and a child, the real star was the “Historical Hawaiian Adventure.” We did this on the next day. It’s an outrigger that fits 7 guests and the tour guide. John was our guide and our party of 3 had the starboard hull with John in the back. The port hill had another family of four. We all rowed as a team, but it was leisurely and stress free (conversely, the day before, we’d been pretty stressed fighting the tide at the very end of our journey to round some rocks and get back to the landing bay.) John was full of great history, stories, lore and marine biology. He took us to a coral prominence that we would never have found on our own. We saw an 8’ manta ray and had the opportunity to snorkel there. I was the only one to take him up on it. Let me say, if you ever in your life have the opportunity to see a large manga ray up close (I was maybe 7 to 12 feet from it), do not pass it up! They are majestic and beautiful creatures! Then on our way to the Captain Cook monument for more snorkeling we watched a pod of about a dozen dolphin arc out of the water 15 feet off our bow. They had been a good 200 feet or so off to port, but as we were rowing at speed they just kind of zoomed up playfully to us and leapt out of the water right in front of us. No snorkeling at that point, though, because by law you’re supposed to try to maintain at least 150 foot distance from dolphin. When we finally made it to the snorkeling reef by the Captain Cook Monument we had a good long time to swim around and check out the colorful fish. The water by the way, was quite calm and warm. All in all, two great experiences with a great outfit. We’ll be doing it again when we come to Hawaii again.
