We did the sunset hike with Jon and Chase. It was an experience of a lifetime. Right from the pick up from the Hotel, the hike, the light dinner, the careful attention to making sure we were all made the trek up and down the canyon was exceptional. The narrative from Chase about the fossils, the different layers in the canyon and the flora and fauna around made the trip extra special. The sunset view and the vistas from our picnic spot were spectacular. Best of all the absence of crowd and the weather going down and up made the hike a memory which will last a lifetime.

My family and I went on a 1/2 day hike into Grand Canyon with Jon (the South Kaibab Trail down to Cedar Ridge). Jon was fantastic! He arrived with backpacks with snacks and drinks for all of us and trekking poles which were incredibly helpful. Jon was really knowledgeable about the Grand Canyon and has true love for hiking. He is great with a camera too so he helped capture some really awesome once-in-a-lifetime memories (some of which were terrifying for me to watch but my husband and son absolutely loved every moment). I was quite nervous about the hike itself as I am quite terrified of heights and I was concerned that the path would be too steep/too narrow but Jon really helped with my comfort level by letting me know that it was the same paths that the mules traveled and that it was quite wide, and it was. I really would have missed something amazing had I decided to skip the hike. Jon also prepared an amazing lunch for us that we enjoyed while we enjoyed the quiet and expansive views at Cedar Ridge. We would definitely recommend hiking the South Kaibab Trail with Jon!

This tour was better than expected even after reading all of the stellar reviews! Our group was us (two grandparents) and our grandsons (8 and 10). Our guide Kevin was so friendly, patient, kind, knowledgeable and well equipped! The drinks, snacks, food, trekking poles, backpacks were all top notch! Kevin even made sure the picky 8 year old and peanut allergic 10 year old were happy and full! We learned a lot of Grand Canyon history, facts (and lore!) Kevin even arranged for perfect weather! :-) They think of everything on this tour. Picked up and dropped off right at our lodge and we always felt perfectly safe, as well as hydrated and satisfied! This tour is wonderful, awesome, fantastic and fabulous! Do it! You won’t be sorry! Worth every cent! Besides that, it was FUN! Thank you Kevin and Jon for doing everything right!

We had a great day hiking with Kevin - he was super knowledgeable and encouraging, helped pace us throughout the day, and took great photos of us. He also had the best recommendation for our lunch spot and made us amazing wraps (fresh!) which really hit the spot. We were able to save our energy as we were dropped off & picked up right at the start of the South Kaibab trail (rather than having to walk from the parking lot). The hiking gear and snacks provided were top tier as well. Highly recommended!

We just finished our half day private tour of the Grand Canyon with OGCDH and it was fantastic. Our guide, Christine, was full of useful and interesting information and stories, and could not have been nicer. In a bit of bad luck, my wife's vertigo kicked in not long after we started hiking and Christine did a masterful job of keeping her calm and finding spots for us to rest and enjoy the views. Lunch was great and the day could not have been better, all things considered. It's a great company and Jon, the owner, is one of the nicest tour guides we've ever interacted with. A great time with a great group of people. Go hike & enjoy!!

This was an amazing day for me, my wife and my daughters aged 14, 12 and 9. John and Kevin handled everything. All we had to do was show up and enjoy. We were on the trail 15-20 min after we were picked up. If we did this on our own it would have taken us several hours to buy all the snacks, water, gear, and lunch and we would have had to park and walk a decent distance to the trail. Kevin and John kept the kids engaged and entertained and took amazing pictures of us.

Great job from the moment we booked until we were dropped off back at our hotel. John provided a short information sheet in advance and we were ready for our adventure. A couple of days before he communicated “shorts weather”. Timely pick up by Christy and Kevin. Picked up one other couple-they hiked with Kevin and we hiked with Christy. Both guides were well qualified with certifications well beyond needed for our hike. Downhill, we went past Cedar Ridge (bathroom break) and stopped for lunch. If my foot slid, she checked on me immediately; even while talking, she was listening for clues about a potential problem. Christy told nice stories about the canyon when we stopped for water and snacks. They provided an appropriate day pack, two big water/Gatorade, and trekking poles. Christy carried lunch fixings (chicken wraps with Romaine, cucumbers, avocado, tomato, and an Italian dressing) and prepared them while we took in the views. Uphill, she adjusted the pace. She told more stories while we rested…so nice…and always made us feel that we were doing GREAT! What a great day!

Our hike on the South Kaibab with Kevin was fabulous. It snowed overnight unexpectedly and continued to snow as we descended into the canyon. We almost canceled due to the weather and my anxieties but Jon the owner was very encouraging and assured us we would be safe. Kevin came prepared with crampons and hiking poles and it was clear he knows the trail very well. He knew just how to help me overcome my fear of heights and he guided us down much farther than I thought we’d be able to go. The weather cleared and we enjoyed the amazing views and splendor the canyon offers. An amazing day and we highly recommend Only Grand Canyon Day Hikes. You won’t regret booking with them!

The overall experience was great. Christy was a great guide that was very friendly. She answered all our questions about the Grand Canyon and the surrounding areas. The equipment provided truly made the it possible to enjoy our hike. The provided hiking poles and crampons were truly necessary at the start where the ice had yet to melt. The provided drinks, snacks, and lunch served us well. We truly enjoyed having lunch out on the trail. There is no way we would have been prepared for this hike on our own. It was truly a unique experience that was well worth it.
