This Whale and Dolphin watching experience starts with welcoming guest in our office, before a short briefing (10-15min) on safety procedures, species possible to observe and logistic information. Guests will be provided with a raincoat and a life vest (mandatory on smaller boats).
Time to head out, following the instructions and directions of strategically placed lookouts, along the south coast of the island. Our boats, then meet these unique animals, in an experience which is a mixture of fun, adventure, discovery and scientific knowledge.

Great Experience! We saw both dolphins and whales. Guide was very knowledgeable. You will get wet. Hot tea after was a great touch.

We had a great trip and saw lots of dolphins and a whale. The crew was very knowledgeable. The speedboat ride was a lot of fun on its own.

We had such an amazing time on our first whale and dolphin watching tour that we booked it again and then had a second amazing half day out. We went out on the RIB (speed boat) rather than the big boat as we wanted the thrill of being low down and close to the water. Staff are fantastic, knowledgeable and extremely respectful of the welfare of the whales and dolphins. The rib got us to sightings pretty quickly and then enabled us to sit back and watch as the dolphins played around us and we could watch the whales feeding and diving in a safe environment. We saw three species of whales in total and three species of dolphins, getting some amazing photos. The RIB ride on the way back was a thrill as well. I would recommend using the waterproof jackets provided, as you are highly likely to get wet. If you get sea sick or have a medical issue or injury then I would avoid the RIB and go for the bigger boat, either will give you an incredible time out watching these amazing animals in their natural environment. I would highly recommend Pico de Aventura for whale and dolphin watching.

Thank you for a wonderful day. We saw humpback and sperm whales and three different types of dolphins.
I would however like to hear more information about the sea animals around Azores.
Nevertheless, great tour. Would recommend.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I loved the care they have for the whales and dolphins and how they keep the animals safety a priority. We saw several whales and so many dolphins. It really was a pleasure and the highlight of our trip.

We had originally planned on taking the catamaran for this tour but were notified a few days before that there weren't enough people for the boat. The guide offered to put us on the speed boat tour -- to which we agreed.
Looking back on it, I'm glad that we went with the speed boat -- we had a great time! The RIB (rigid inflatable boat) is very low to the water so you have a much better view of the dolphins who swam alongside and dived under the boat. Although we didn't get as close to the whales, we had a good view of them as well. The boat ride was bumpy but a lot of fun. And yes, we saw two types of dolphins (and lots of them!) -- common dolphins and bottle-nose and saw one type of whale (Sei whales). The guide was very knowledgeable and the driver very skilled.
This was a lot of fun!

We were so lucky to see 5 species of sea mammals - bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins, humpback whales, sei whale and a family of orcas.

The most memorable thing on this tour was watching live dolphins and whales they are amazing creatures! But if I would go next time I would prefer a bigger boat. It was challenging for us older couple to ride an open spreed boat .
