Long day long drive from Hanoi but 6 wonderful hours on the boat. We had a great guide who explained everything before it happened. I could have done without the oyster/pearl stop but had been forewarned by previous comments The caves were worth the steps and the walk. Food was plentiful. You had to pay extra for a speedboat ride but the kayaking and banana boat were free and relaxing. Fantastic views as the sun set

Must do excursion but overcrowded and we went in the “low” season. Beautiful place even in the smog from the crop burning but Authorities need to consider limiting number of tourists each day as per Venice, Machu Pichu. Tour itself is standard - set route, generic buffet but at least it wasn’t a party bus or boat.

A must see if you visit VIietnam. The tour was nice which included lunch on the boat. 2-3 stoos for the cave & beach. We also did the speed boat, if you have time it’s worth it (extra $). It becomes a long day though.

Halong bay is an amazing experience to see. Beautiful area of Vietnam and the people are extremely friendly. Seeing the individual islands jutting out of the bay was breathtaking. Highly recommend.

The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and he was very well-organized with timings. On the way to Ha Long Bay, we stopped at an Oyster Farm where we listened to a talk about the pearls. This was a complete tourist trap. I didn't hear what the local guide was saying - it was a five-minute talk then we were left to shop for 30 minutes. The bay is beautiful and this is a good way to see it in a day. However, there are many other boats doing exactly the same thing meaning it is overcrowded. This isn't the tour operator's fault but the tourist board should organize the visits better. The boat was a nice experience - the food was okay.

The tour was a balance of activities and enough time on the boat to chill and enjoy the environment. Really enjoyable experience and met some lovely people. Food was reasonable with different options.
