Stop At: Selvatura Adventure Park, Provincia de Puntarenas, Tilarán, Costa Rica

The treetop walkways tour consists of 1.9 miles of trails in which our visitors will encounter eight bridges of various lengths which range between 170 feet and 560 feet. Each bridge features 5 foot width and the largest capacity in Costa Rica of up to 80 people per bridge which make the treetop walkways at Selvatura Park not only the longest bridge system in Costa Rica but also the safest and strongest.

Additionally Selvatura Park’s Treetop Walkways designs are the only ones that have been submitted and have been approved by the College of Architects and Engineers of Costa Rica, which ensures that they were constructed following only the best construction standards of construction and materials for their purpose and thus provide the best quality available.

The treetop walkways can be enjoyed by people of all ages and physical conditions.

The cloud forest is beautiful, and our guide, Jason, wonderful and knowledgeable. We didn’t see much wildlife, but the scenery was well worth the visit.

Our guide was excellent! Definitely go with a guide. He showed us and taught us about the forrest and animals. He had a good sense of humour. Bring a raincoat or you can buy a poncho for 21$ there.

So interesting to experience the cloud forest at different levels and well worth paying extra for a guided walk. We didn't see many animals, but we learned about the cloud forest ecosystem on our tour, and the views were amazing. Unfortunately, the "before" and "after" of the hanging bridges walk seemed pretty chaotic and disorganized. We had to stand in a long line to check in, but we really didn't know what was happening - more information ahead of time about that would be helpful. Also, transport back to our hotel was included, but the shuttles aren't that frequent. That would also be helpful to know ahead of time. Luckily we only had to wait about 1/2 hour.

We were worried that this was going to be crowded (especially when we first arrived in Selvatura park where several visitors were lined up to go to the park and/or zipline), but upon arrival, we were separated into smaller groups. Our tour guide (I think Carlos was his name) was very entertaining and very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. He had a guidebook with pictures and a telescope to help us see animals from a distance. He took the time before crossing each bridge to listen and identify animals in the area. During the tour, we saw howler monkeys, tarantulas, various hummingbirds (and even a hummingbird nest in the trail towards the end of the tour!), and other local birds. We almost saw a quetzal (almost because it was hidden but according to our guide, he could hear the noise/call). We were particularly impressed by how our guide was able to sort the nature sounds from the nearby zipline activities happening in the area. Overall it was a great experience and we would do it again.

Daniel Bianco was our contact with Destination Services, very friendly, informative and helpful with the options, strongly recommend him for any excursions you may wish to do in Costa Rica. Carlos our driver and Jaime our tour guide were the best. Jaime was very knowledgeable and made out excursion unforgettable. We visited the waterfall, Tenorio volcano, rainforest where we saw poisonous frogs, sloths, monkeys, toucan and other beautiful birds and vegetation. We crossed 4 hanging bridges with the most impressive views and finished with water rafting with the best, Captain Roberto. There we saw more monkeys (white face and holler), crocodiles and stunning scenery. Absolutely loved the excursion and are thankful for everyone who helped made it amazing.
