Itinerary
Temazcal is a traditional Mexican sweat lodge; it is a dome shaped structure that depending on the culture, location and background it would be made of clay, brick or even sticks and fabrics. Temazcal has been used in Mexico since the prehispanic times and it was use for healing purposes. We use sacred volcanic rocks to heat up the temazcal, and that water is a prepared infusion of medicinal herbs, therefore the steam generated in the temazcal is believe to help detoxify the body, release negative energy, and promote physical and mental healing.
When we arrived to the place where we have our Temazcal you'll enjoy a cacao while learning a little bit about the history of temazcal and the culture that will lead the ceremony. Once inside the Temazcal we will enjoy using aloe vera and honey to pamper ourselves and listen to the wise words of our guide to calm your minds while we burn in the heat what is hindering our lifes and breathe in the steam of medicinal plants.

This was my 1st Temazcal and I went into the experience with an open mind and heart. We were picked up from a Starbucks location and driven to the grounds of the Temazcal by one of Huitzi’s students, who was on time and very professional. When we arrived at the grounds, we were given a tour of the area and greeted by Huitzi. We then changed into our clothes for the ceremony and received a drink of hot cacao. While we were drinking our cacao, we were given a history of the Temazcal and the background of Huitzi. Prior to entering, we were individually given some intentions to focus on. Once everyone was in, the heated lava rocks are placed in the middle, the hole was covered, then came the sweat! Huitzi and his team were great during the entire ceremony and made sure everyone feeling well to proceed. Throughout the entire experience, Huitzi‘s words were translated superbly and seamlessly to avoid interrupting the flow of the experience. After crawling out the hole, we individually rinsed off under a cold shower and laid on the ground to process what happened. Then, we were given fennel tea to drink, and some time to speak about our Temazcal experience. We were then driven back to Starbucks. Overall, it was an amazing time, and I would love to return!
