Our first path drives us down Banyan Drive known as the "Hilo Walk of Fame" for the banyan trees planted by celebrities, such as Babe Ruth and Franklin Roosevelt and many others. These trees have withstood several tsunamis that have devastated the town of Hilo
Pass By: Lili'uokalani Gardens, 189 Lihiwai St #151, 49 Banyan Drive Adjacent To The Hotels And Along Hilo Bay, Hilo, Island of Hawaii, HI 96720-4680
Starting January 1st 2024 this stop will be a drive-by without stopping.
This is the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan donated by Queen Liliʻuokalani in 1917. Throughout the gardens are stone lanterns, gazebos, and torii gates, recalling the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii.

Pass through the historic town of Hilo and see the King Kamehameha Statue learning the story how he has conquered Hawaii.
Stop At: Rainbow Falls, Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo, Island of Hawaii, HI 96720
breathtaking 80 ft waterfall, Rainbow Falls. These beautiful falls get their name from the rainbow that is often visible in the mist that rises as the water cascades to the rocks 80 feet below.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: Big Island Candies, 585 Hinano St, Hilo, Island of Hawaii, HI 96720-4428
Big Island Candies was established in 1977 to manufacture and market fine quality macadamia nut candies and cookies using 100 percent Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, island eggs, real butter, and high-grade chocolate. Since its founding, Big Island Candies has continuously introduced new and imaginative products that "wow" both the eyes and taste buds of its growing legion of fans.

Stop At: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Island of Hawaii, Hawaii
We will then make our way to the summit of Kilauea volcano at the Volcanoes National Park, the most highly regarded and revered volcanic area on Earth. The Park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes--Kilauea and Mauna Loa--and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. At the park, you will stop at the Visitor Center, witness the spectacular collapsed caldera, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic lookouts. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Island of Hawaii, HI 96718
We will walk through a lava tube and the guide will share information with you on how it was formed by lava. This lava tube is .4 of a mile loop trail with low lighting. Gradual stairs descending into the tube ascending stairs coming out. Not all passengers may be physically fit in which they may stay in the vehicle or outside natural scenery for this portion of the tour.

Stop At: Richardson Beach Park, 2279 Kalanianaole Ave, Hilo, Island of Hawaii, HI 96720
Richardson Black Sand Beach, where sea turtles are usually spotted. The Black Sand Beach is a local favorite, and is a great way to see how the ocean and volcanoes make fine black sand. Please note this beach may be closed due to recent construction and we may have to go to Hilo Bayfront instead.

As Ronald C wrote, our tour guide Giovanni (Gio) was fantastic. Such a lovely man who always gave great information and clear instructions. He ensured all on our tour had a good time “making memories” and took photos for us with our mobiles. It’s the perfect shore excursion as you get to see the main attractions on the island and no worries about getting back to the ship on time.

Even though it was enjoyable I would make my way privately by hire car as there was so much more to see at the National park that we didn’t get a chance to see need at least a day to explore

Geo made the whole day fantastic! He told us all the best things to see and do and made the whole trip fun! Little added extras here and there made the trip the best! Walking in a lava tube! Standing in the steam of a volcano vent! You can’t do THAT at home! I loved this trip!

Gio is very friendly and knowledgeable. A great tour. We enjoyed seeing the falls and the volcano park. He also took us a black sand beach and a drive through the Japanese botanical gardens.

We had an amazing tour with Lani. Plenty of time at each site, and our pictures are amazing. Although the weather was not the best. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour!

We were on the Norwegian Spirit, so we had limited time in port. I am so glad that we chose this excursion. Rusty was a very flexible and informative guide. We really enjoyed all of our stops and had plenty time in each place. We particularly enjoyed our time at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It was a much better option than those offered by the cruise line. Thanks for a good day, Rusty!

Giovani took us on an amazing guided tour visiting Black sand beaches, Rainbow falls, the Volcano National Park, and Island Candy Factory. Gio was such an incredible guide who shared a bit of his personal culture and experience with us. He even took the effort to remember everyone’s name on our 20 person tour. This tour is one you should consider doing as you get such great value for what you will be willing to pay for on other tours.

Great tour, lovely tour guide. Pickup was easy from cruise ship and we were back with no problem. Would recommend - a lot cheaper than going though the ship!
