We pick up guests from all Auckland Downtown CBD accommodation (Hotels, BNBs, Backpackers etc). You will be advised your pickup time within 24 hours of your booking. Please be ready and waiting for our yellow Mercedes-Benz transportation 5 minutes before your advsied pick up time. Those staying outside the Downtown CBD area, your pick up will be at the Sky Tower in the middle of Downtown Auckland

Great tour. Only drawback was vehicle taken to the tour site was not very comfortable over the 2 hour drive each way. Driver was great and provided information on the scenery.

Michael was our tour guide for our trip to Hobbiton. He was really personable and made extra effort to make sure each person in our small tour group had a great time. We were picked up from our hotel for the journey through the Waikato region and out to The Shire. On our road trip Michael provided a commentary that became a conversation between new friends. At Hobbiton there is some time to use the restrooms, the cafe, visit the gift shop and take photos before Michael handed us over to the Hobbiton guide for a short drive to The Shire. My experience of LoTR is limited but the tour is so well done I was really impressed. The tour guide takes groups of about 30 people on a walking tour through the lush green undulating terrain of The Shire. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours. A new part of the tour includes going inside one of the hobbit holes where you can take photos in the various rooms. The attention to detail is amazing. At the end of the tour you will go inside the Green Dragon pub for a free drink. Michael, our tour guide, met us outside the Green Dragon and helped us with photos before our small group boarded the bus back to Auckland. Whilst the Hobbiton tour itself is amazing, the peace of mind and extra value of being with a knowledgeable tour guide like Muchael means you will get more from the experience than if you did it by yourself.

Michael was our driver/guide. Wonderful, informative and just an overall great guy. The actual Hobbiton tour is well done attraction & worth seeing. Ours was standalone but can be combined with an extra attraction (eg, glow worm cave). What distinguishes this tour operator from others was small size (10 people + driver on this tour) vs some that are larger. The actual Hobbiton tour is 1.5-2 hrs no matter who offers it. The difference in time between operators will be a factor of how much time they let you browse in store, hang around the green dragon for your free drink. This operator was by far the least expensive of the tours available when I booked ((>7 days in advance) and the only one I saw that picked you up at your hotel. Others gave you a choice of 1-5 locations to choice from. Highly recommend.

Wonderful experience and our tour guide Mike was knowledgeable and fun. My wife Debbi and I had a great time seeing the Shire and the New Zealand countryside!!! A must see, especially after Dec 2023 when the new full size walk in hobbit hole will be completed!!

Liked everything except we felt rushed. Would definitely recommend it to others. Michael, our driver and tour guide was very professional, knowledgeable, had great stories to share, and funny. He also gave good recommendations for the rest of our time in Auckland.

We are an elderly couple from USA. Our guide was fun and knowledgable and was very helpful to group members. We enjoyed the trip through the beautiful countryside. The Hobbiton set was delightful, the gift shop and facilities were very good and had delicious snacks. The tour was a highlight of our visit to New Zealand.
