This is well worth a visit if you like LOTR. As others have said, the attention to detail is amazing, particularly being able to go inside a fully kitted out hobbit hole. The tour is guided and timed and although there are lots of tours, it is well paced and cleverly routed so you don't bump into another group at any point or feel rushed. Our guide was very cheerful and knowledgeable. She allowed lots of time for photos and took some for us as well.

This was my third visit to Hobbiton and I loved it just as much as the first. Being able to go inside a fully furnished Hobbit hole was just incredible. The attention to detail was mesmerising. This was my favourite part of the entire tour. We went on the Second Breakfast tour and the spread was amazing. It was so lovely to sit down inside the Mill House and have a meal with everyone. The decor was amazing. Our guide was enthusiastic and friendly and she definitely made the experience a lot of fun.

Although not the biggest LOTR or The Hobbit fans, this experience is a must do and worth the time and effort to make it there. We ended up getting the tour from the Matamata I-site as that was the only one available at a good time for us, and involved an extra 15 minute bus ride to the Shires Rest, which was good as we could watch a short video as we went. We then drove onto the set, past the sheep paddocks and started our tour. We had an enthusiastic guide which made a difference. Although it goes for an hour and a half, it didn't seem like it, and lots of photos were taken, including some by the guide outside a Hobbit house. The details were amazing, and you could easily recognise where some of the main scenes were filmed. The fantastic new addition of being able to go inside a Hobbit hole was a standout. Once again, the level of detail and thought put into finishing off the interiors was amazing, and a great addition to the tour. Finishing off with a complimentary beverage in the Inn was a lovely way to end our visit to the movie set, before heading back to the gift shop and cafe at the Shires Rest. Worth every cent, five stars.

Everything! The scenery, the buildings and the whole effort put into the set! Knowledgeable guides, many gardeners working to keep the gardens well tended. The authentic props, the tour inside the hobbit houses, the tavern, the bridge and just everything.

Terrible experience, when I asked if I could then leave early instead of staying for lunch I was then told with a rude face from the guide “well that’s poor planning on your part right” I left and instantly burst into tears as I was needing to leave for personal medical reasons which I did not need (nor feel comfortable) to disclose to this guide. Thankfully a lovely German guide had space on their bus and let me leave with them. I am thoroughly disappointed and hurt by the lack of professionalism and just genuine care on a human to human basis. If a company cannot even start trying to help a customer who needed to leave it’s not a company I feel comfortable in good conscience recommend to anyone else.

This tour had been recommended by friends but I wasn’t sure as I’m not a Lord of the Rings fan particularly although I had seen the movies. We had an early tour and everything went so smoothly, friendly staff guiding us to park, the ticketing office and cafe . We took the bus a short distance with a talk on the screen from Peter Jackson. Our tour guide was a young lady from South Africa and she was so knowledgeable and had many funny stories., the whole experience came to life. The previous evening it had rained heavily (thankfully stopping while we visited) so the paths were a little muddy - be sure to wear appropriate footwear. The newly opening exhibit of the interior of a hobbit house was wonderful, so much attention to detail and cosy and warm on the chilly May morning. Thoroughly recommend this tourist attraction. It was so pleasing to see many overseas tourists.
