Great organisation overall. I thought it was slick. Loved the detail in the open Hobbit Holes, esp stewing fruit on the stove, loved the gardens. Great experience. Have already recommended to friends and some will be visiting soon. Downside... Double charged for a croissant in the cafe, which I didn't spot.

The tour ran like clock work. Plenty of time to take everything in. Absolutely incredible experience. Guide was funny and knowledgeable. Highlight was getting to go inside one of the hobbit houses. We had the buffet lunch and like everything else, it was very well run and delicious. Well worth going even if you're not a big fan of the movies but appreciate a well put together attraction. Attention to detail is the best I've seen.

Our third visit to Hobbiton and the first since opening up a hole for exploration. What is there not to love about this magical other worldly experience. From the bus ride in taking in the surroundings of the Shire to the attention to detail in everything Hobbit it's worth every penny. We'll be back again as every visit is special and unique.

Well organized. Great location for meeting place, loads of parking. Nice shop friendly staff, clean restrooms. Cafe there but we did the tour plus lunch so didn’t use. Bus to get there was clean. Our tour guide Stephen A. was friendly and funny and informative and knowledgeable. He gave us special insight into some photography effects. The site was phenomenal clean and beautifully maintained. The food was delicious and plentiful. I did not feel rushed. Would highly recommend.

We were welcomed with fabulous weather on the day of our walking tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set. We drove from Auckland and arrived early. We were given the option to take an earlier tour than our ticketed one, and opted to go a little bit earlier but also giving us time to have lunch at The Shire's Rest cafe. The cafe was clean, the staff friendly and efficient and the food tasty. Our tour began at 1.10pm on time and it was exciting driving up the steep road by bus and hearing a little of the history behind how the location was spotted was Peter Jackson & his location scouts. Also how the NZ army helped to build the road leading to "Hobbiton". Our tour guide Tracey was bubbly and gave our "Fellowship" group lots of information regarding the movie set. We were given ample time to take so many photos and were delighted to have a photo taken inside the door of one of the Hobbit holes. An added feature was the new attraction of being able to enter a Hobbit hole and experience the scale of the Hobbits (as opposed to human size). The details were superb inside the home and everything was a delight to see. We were able to enter the Home of the Proudfoots who made their own mead! The tour ended at The Green Dragon Inn where we enjoyed a beer and ginger beer and had time to take in the scenery and surroundings. Everything ran like clockwork and we didn't feel hurried at all. We loved the tour and seeing the Hobbiton movie set. It felt like the scenery came alive as you learned more about the filming of the movies. Having only seen part of The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey, we felt we knew enough about the characters to immerse ourselves in the location. On arriving home, we watched the end of the movie and were thrilled to relive the scenes now that we had been "on set". Definitely worth a visit and highly recommended!
