You will be picked up at your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavik and drive only 15 minutes away to your horse riding destination. You will then get all basic gear, such as helmets, boots and rain clothes (snowsuits in wintertime). Information will be gathered about how much you have been riding and so the proper horse will be matched to your experience. After the ride we will take you back to your hotel or guesthouse.

I am a pure animal lover and I have owned horses the majority of my life but riding Icelandic horses is a whole new level of pure tranquility and happiness. I loved it!
The horses are so loved and well cared for and everyone is so welcoming and friendly. They’re happy to show you all the photos on the wall and answer any questions you have. You are picked up and dropped back off to the nearest stop to your accommodation and taken to the farm where you will be greeted and kitted up with the necessary riding gear. The horses are tacked up ready for you to meet and the guide joins you on the ride. They have a friendly chat along the way and show you the beautiful tracks of Iceland, the views are stunning.
I’d recommend this to anyone, even if you don’t have horse experience. You’ll love it!

I absolutely loved my horseback riding experience with Laxnes. They helped me find the correct sized helmet, as well as made sure I was warm by picking out a jumpsuit and an extra sweater for me to wear. I could feel that the family cares for their visitors and wants to make sure we are comfortable with our horses and are going to have a positive experience. Even though we had a small group, we had two guides who routinely checked on us. At the end of our ride we were treated to cake and a hot beverage. The horses were all beautiful, happy, and well taken care of.
I just can’t compliment the family enough, they were all absolutely delightful and kind.

This was a great excursion. The folks from Laxnes Farms picked us up a couple of blocks from our hotel and drove us out to their farm (about a half an hour’s drive from Reykjavik).
The farm is located on 1,100 acres of Icelandic countryside. The horses are well-taken care of, healthy, content, and even tempered. The horseback ride is perfect for experts and beginners alike.
Our guides were knowledgeable and friendly. I wish I could have ridden all day!!

My sister is an avid horseback rider so this was on her bucket list. The driver (I think the owner’s son) was punctual and extremely friendly. My mother and I had no experience but thought we would be okay because the horses are so friendly. We were doing just fine until they split the group between those who wanted to go faster and those who wanted to walk. The guide who stayed with my mom & I “Christian” was having trouble handling his/our horses when the fast group left. I asked him if he was sure the horses are okay, they seemed ansy. The moment he let them go they both bolted.. I managed to hold on while being terrified, my mom fell and broke two ribs. After this, the owner and son were extremely attentive and caring and showed great concern for my mother and offered to help in any way they could. Christian however did not even help my mother off the ground after her fall, nor did he ask her how she was doing back at the barn. If Christian was unsure of how the horses would react when released, he shouldn’t have. He jeopardized our safety. Would have been a great day if not for this mishap.

Beautiful experience during this activity. From pickup to getting to the horse ranch. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful family members. I was fitted for my helmet and you could borrow gloves, hard or clothing gear to wear to keep warm.
I was matched with a soft, warm, gentle horse since I was inexperienced. The horses were beautiful. The scenery was beautiful and majestic during the ride.
This was my 2nd time during horseback riding while on vacation the guides were helpful, attentive and knowledgeable.
I had an amazing experience.
