drive to Ephesus ( 45 minutes drive ) First visit the Artemis Temple where is one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World. Continue to Ephesus, walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them The State Agora, Odeon, Memnius Monument, the Temple of Domitian, , Polio Fountain, Curetes Street, The Trajan Fountain, The Baths of Scholastica, Hadrian Temple, Latrina, Celcus Library, the gate of Mihridates and Mazues, Commercial Agora and The Grand Theater are two of the most impressive buildings in Ephesus. Grand theatre was built in 3rd century B.C and it was later expanded to 24.000 spectators by the Romans in the 1st century A.D.
After Ephesus, lunch will be served in the garden of a local handicrafts center. Here you can see some of the traditional carpet weaving techniques used and enjoy viewing some splendid displays of beautiful carpets.

After Lunch visit House of Virgin Mary. This house is located on the Aladag Mountains 5 miles from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council of 431 in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the discovery of the house, the Archbishop of Izmir declared it a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited this place and prayed here.

Very well organised for a day trip from Istanbul. We were picked up on time in a large comfortable vehicle. Our tour guide Mr Yavuz was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. It was worth the money and time spent.

Very well organized tour from start to finish. We had a funny and very knowledgeable Turkish guide. I think having a Turkish guide brings a unique perspective compared to someone who only recites historical facts. He added a very personal dimension to the history and how it impacts Turkish people and the world today. GREAT TOUR!

Our family was visiting Istanbul and decided at the last minute to book a day trip to Ephesus. It was a great decision! The entire trip was easy - transfers to and from our hotel to the airport in Istanbul, pick up and return to the airport on the Ephesus side, and flights were quick. The private tour in Ephesus was fascinating! Our tour guide was fluent in English and shared the amazing history of the area. The Roman ruins were very accessible. And while we probably could have done a day trip on our own - having everything set up for us - with travel, transfers, lunch, and a history lesson built in made it completely worth it. I would highly recommend the experience!

This was a really long day, starting with a 5:15 AM hotel pick up , but once we arrived, our tour guide did a wonderful job telling us about the area as we drove towards Ephesus. He gave us lots of information about Ephesus and made sure we had a complete tour. The guide was from the local area, so he lived amidst the fascinating history. Our visit to Mary’s house and the St. John Basilica were equally filled with wonderful information. I asked lots of questions, which he was happy to answer. We went to a wonderful restaurant, opting to skip the lunch/rug sales, since we visited a rug maker in Istanbul. Every bit of the day-long trip went off like clockwork, and was totally worth the cost and early morning.

This day trip was a dream come true! My sister and I were quite excited about getting to walk around ancient Ephesus. Our guide, Mr Emre, was perfect! If I could have hand picked my guide, Mr Emre is who I would have picked. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, interesting, nice, and easy to talk with. He was able and eager to answer all of our questions and was always willing to take our pictures. He knew the best places to stand to be away from the crowds and see the breathtaking buildings and statues.
From the beginning we felt like we were well taken care of. We were picked up promptly at our hotel in Istanbul to be taken to the airport. At the airport in Izmir, Mr Emre greeted us and had a sign with my name on it. At that moment, the tour began. We had Mr Emre and his driver all to ourselves! My sister and I had the most wonderful and memorable day, and it was all because of this tour company and Mr Emre. Thank you!

Everything went smoothly. The hotel pick up was right on time, we had plenty of time to get to our flight and the flight went smoothly. We were greeted by our guide, Gurkan, at the Izmir airport and he provided tons of great information about Ephesus and the surrounding area. The visits to Ephesus, Mary’s house, and the ruins of St John’s Basillica were beyond my expectation! It was wonderful to see and Gurkan was so knowledgeable. I enjoyed everything about it.

We had the most amazing experience, our tour guide Selenay was great. She met us at the airport and gave us the rundown of the day's itinerary and was flexible if we wanted some changes. The guided tour of the ancient city of Ephesus was enlightening, followed by a visit to House of Virgin Mary. Finally, lunch and visit to Carpet weaving factory. I will recommend this trip to anyone.

No regrets with booking this tour! Everything was well-handled: booking, tickets, transfers, schedule. Mr Fevzi, the tour operator, was very communicative and helpful. Our guide, Secil, was excellent as well. She was very knowledgeable about Turkish history, archaeology, geography, and present-day politics. She was also very sensitive to our needs. We would book this tour with this company and this guide again.
