Italian language and culture course

I studied at Accademia Italiana for three weeks in March 2024. I was very pleased with the school, the director, the office staff and, above all, the teachers. Although they do not use written materials, the teachers generally had a good plan for each lesson, focusing on a particular grammatical topic each class. The city of Ascoli Piceno is wonderful. It’s not a heavily touristed place like Venice or Florence, so the people you meet on the street, in restaurants, or in stores are entirely willing to let you practice your Italian. Because this is a small school, the experience may vary depending on the number of other students in your class. I had three other students in my class for two weeks, and only one other student for the third week. This is probably the point that the person who left a negative review overlooked. At all Italian language schools in Italy, adjustments must be made if there are not enough students at a certain level. But I would much rather run the risk of having to make adjustments than run the risk of having a very large class. That’s something I always check before enrolling at a school. (I’ve studied at seven schools in different cities).

I travel alone very often, as I like to discover the culture of the my destinations. This course seemed perfect to me, since in addition to learning the language, it offers you the possibility of learn about Italian culture, gastronomy and history, discovering Ascoli Piceno. I didn't know that learning a language could be so fun, while we walked through the streets of the city, tasted the typical Olive all'ascolana and discovered the charm of the Tronto River. I was in the group for beginners, since I don't speak any Italian, but the teachers make you feel very comfortable with their teaching methods and in particular the fascinating classes of the director of the school, Antonella Valentini, who knows so much about Italian history and literature. Without any doubt, it was the best decision to attend this course and the staff's assistance in every moment was impeccable.

Per via del lavoro che spesso mi porta a viaggiare, ho diversi amici e colleghi stranieri che ogni tanto vengono a Roma a trovarmi. Quando mi chiedono consiglio su dove poter imparare l’italiano, li ho sempre mandati all’Accademia Italiana di Ascoli Piceno. L’ho scoperta grazie al consiglio di un’amica fidata, Anita (brasiliana), che aveva a suo tempo avuto modo di frequentarla. Perché Ascoli Piceno: la città è meravigliosa e tranquilla. Zero criminalità, si può andare a piedi ovunque senza bisogno di automobili o mezzi pubblici. Cibo straordinario, costi inferiori rispetto alle grandi città. Perché l’Accademia Italiana: docenti preparatissimi e simpatici, che ho conosciuto personalmente avendo ogni tanto accompagnato i miei amici ad Ascoli e soggiornato in città anche per qualche settimana. Una straordinaria moltitudine di attività fuori dalle aule, dai corsi di cucina alla visita al fiume (con un famoso etologo della zona). Tutte le persone a cui ho consigliato l’Accademia (ormai almeno una ventina) sono state entusiaste, ENTUSIASTE!, di questa esperienza. Mi sento davvero di raccomandarla a chiunque, come a suo tempo ha fatto con me la mia amica Anita.

A marzo ho partecipato a un corso d’italiano per stranieri -livello avanzato- presso l’Accademia Italiana, ad Ascoli. Durante le lezioni che sono durate per due settimane, abbiamo studiato diversi argomenti, dalla cultura e tradizioni del Bel Paese alle materie linguistiche piuttosto profonde e complicate. Vorrei enfatizzare il livello di preparazione professionale degli insegnanti dell’Accademia e il loro approccio individuale verso ogni studente. Ho frequentato molte altre scuole in Italia ma l’esperienza che ho avuto ad Ascoli Piceno è stata diversa da quelle precedenti e decisamente la migliore! Non essendo troppo affollata, la città attrae con le sue particolarità architettoniche, paesaggi pittoreschi nei dintorni e offre una possibilità di andare al mare in soli trenta minuti. Qui ci si vuole venire di nuovo!
