Itinerary

This journey takes us through 45 kilometers of the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the Canadian Rockies. The Maligne Valley is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, and it has geological features unique in the world. Our journey takes us searching for abundant wildlife while explaining the history and natural wonders to be explored. A 30-minute stop at Maligne Canyon allows us time to explore the two bridges, offering fantastic views of the cascading waterfall and continuing erosion of the ancient limestone.

As we continue into the Valley, we climb into the sub-alpine forests and view the expanding ranges of limestone rising out or Medicine Lake. A stop is made to photograph this natural wonder, and your guide traces its history with you.

From Medicine Lake, we continue up through a forest that is prime habitat for moose and bears. Sightings are common but not guaranteed as we are trying to view these animals in their natural habitat.

At world-famous Maligne Lake, you are led on a 2 to 3km interpretive nature walk. You take in beautiful lakeshore vistas before following the easy-grade trail loop back into the forested surrounds.

Our guide Ross made this tour fantastic. We were able to see bears, elk, deer, and big horn sheep. Ross was a wealth of local knowledge and experience with the wildlife and environment. This was an easy hike and well worth it.

Brilliant tour with Pascal and Alan. We managed to spot a bald eagle nest and just seen the mum on top, we also saw a small black bear climbing a tree, elk, mule and white tail deer, geese and sheep. We stopped at Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake and Maligne Lake. Cannot recommend this tour enough, it was perfect.

Our tour guide was from Australia and was amazing. She gave us so much history about the area and made the hike so much fun. We look forward to coming back with friends to do this again.

Moose sightings - calf, female, male. Jake kept us a safe distance away and backed us off when it appeared that the moose really did not want us around. Our guide, Jake, was absolutely amazing. Very protective of us as well as the respecting the wildlife. Several sheep (longhorn?) He is very knowledgeable, kind, helpful and so caring and respectful of the wildlife. The hike was great. We were the oldest hikers. We did quite well with the slight incline of the path and the tree roots that surfaced in the path.
